Okay, wait, so Sam wasn't invited? "What, no plus-ones?" He listened as Genny explained that David had applied for the ministry and, from what he gathered through Genny's sub-par explanation, Genny was accompanying David to the Ministry Ball. "Is this the same ball that we went to together?" Because again, Genny was not good with details, much to Sam's dismay. He kept his composure, although he wasn't exactly ecstatic over the idea of another guy taking his girlfriend to some fancy soiree. Oh. Well, she didn't get that until now that they were both at the line engaged in conversation. Genny didn't mind waiting with him despite how tired she was. That was part of the commitment of being someone's girlfriend, right? Telling the boyfriend she got asked out to a party and accepted did not make the cut obviously, but waiting in line together? Def.
Just kidding, Genny didn't see it was important to tell Sam beforehand. It was nothing.
Why did Sam have so many questions about this, though? It was a bloody mystery how the Sorting Hat missed his Ravenclaw genes. Genny answered after a small sigh, being extremely patient, "I am the plus one." With David. Duh. The ministry ball they... went... to... OH. "Yeah!" She stared up ahead, realization dawning on her now that last year Sam had asked her to the same ball. And asked her to be his girlfriend then. What a nice, fun memory that she forgot. "Yeah. So, good, you know them! The balls. With the ministry. It's the same one." The realization started turning into a mixed feeling of nervousness and a liiiittle bit of fear - something Genny wasn't familiar with. "Probably won't wear the same dress, though. I don't think it fits anymore anyway. I really should watch those sandwiches, right?" Was she speaking too fast? It felt like it with all the saliva pooling into her mouth. "Maybe make that only two and ease down on the tahini sauce. Actually, I can just wear a suit, keep the sauce and the two sandwiches." Someone should seriously stop her, the switch in her brain was broken by now. Was Sam even paying attention to the sandwich dilemma? |
