It would really stink for him if he didn't like creatures at all.
Work. Worked. Whatever. The fact was the man had personal experience with dragons. Stares at him. "Here? At Hogwarts?! Are you going to hatch another one here?" Does he have any clue how high up on his list of things to experience seeing a newborn dragon hatch from its egg was?! Would pleading help the matter at all? Because he could totally do that and he wouldn't even be embarrassed about it. Lukas nodded in obvious understanding. He knew how seeing thestrals worked. While it would be seriously wicked to be able to see them, it also wouldn't be given the reasoning behind being able to. Not going to comment anymore on that... but... "When did you teach here last? Maybe you taught my older siblings or cousin." Or maybe he knew his mum and dad!
Lukas nodded without hesitation. Did that even have to be a question?! "I would like that a lot." If it boasted his grade that would be great but if it didn't he wouldn't be upset about it. Mhmm, yeah, yep, yuuuupppppp. William might've gotten a bit glassy-eyed as he looked off into the distance and reminisced about Roro the dragon. Such a sweet baby who had made so many precious baby noises. He missed that dragon terribly, and thought about him every day.
"Huh?" He shook his head as Lukas' voice brought him back to reality. "Oh," chuckle chuckle, "I dunno about that, kid. I think Hogwarts has had enough excitement in recent years." Boggarts and students' deaths and Merlin knew what else. He'd followed it all from a distance, of course, in the papers and things. He had to look out for his niece best friend's kid. Had to make sure Louise was doing alright.
As for WHEN he'd taught here??? "Uhhhh," William scratched his head again, and stood up now to stretch out properly. "Before this year, I think I was last teaching here in 2078." He eyed Lukas quickly after he said that. "Who're your family members?" AND DON'T do the math, kid, to see how old he really was. Because he might've been grumpy and close to retirement, but he didn't like to be reminded of it by children who were 40+ years younger than him.
The boy's response to his offer to help had him beaming. "Alright then, I'm going to assign you to the winged horses. Think you can take it upon yourself to stop by and befriend them all, at least once a week?" Or more, if Lukas could spare the time. Quote:

She took Samm from her shoulder and rested him on one of the arms of the chair. If Williamson would just ask, he’d be able to find out that the rat was healthy and quite safe to have scuttling around on his person.
She eyed the mug not being used, which she assumed was hers, before focusing on the man’s nose rather than his eyes. Claudine could feel the sinking disappointment which seemed to work its way from her chest all the way down to the pit of her belly. If she wasn’t so good at controlling her facial expressions, the disappointment would have registered on her face too. “Oh.’’ Claudine glanced at Samm who was looking over the edge of the armrest as though contemplating exploring the cabin. “I’ll just have to keep Samm away from President then.’’
Quickly, she moved on to the real reason for the visit. “Can you tell me about internship opportunities to work with creatures?” Darn it. She should have brought a book to make notes. “Please?” Williamson would never ask about the health of the rat, unless he was literally looking ill and couldn't be ignored. He just... eghghghuhg. He'd seen too many dead rats, rats being eaten by baby dragons, rats getting crunched by hippogriff beaks... sorry, Claudine. Willy just wore an awkward, kinda sad facial expression for her. Rats really shouldn't be pets, he thought again, even if they were intelligent and friendly and sometimes sweet. Also, he'd once heard a story about a rat that cooked for a five-star restaurant in France, and while WWW believed this was possible, it still wouldn't convince him to eat there.
Anyyyyyywho. He brought her cuppa over to her and made sure she took it before he settled into the couch opposite her. Ahhh. The leather may have even let out a farting sound as he sat down, but rest assured, "It was the couch," the professor clarified. Ahem.
"Oh," uhhhhhhhhhhhhh, this was not what he'd been expecting to talk about, for some reason????!? He thought maybe she was here to discuss cats and rats. Willy took a minute to answer, sipping his tea steadily first as he considered internship opportunities for Claudine. "Well, first off, let's talk about you and your experiences with creatures." That was a good, careful answer. "How old are ya, Claudine?" She looked, like, 12, and most places wouldn't take on an intern younger than 16.
Also.... "What are your FAVORITE creatures? Are you allergic to any? And do you have any major fears, like are you afraid of heights, or spiders, or fire?" That would narrow it down somewhat. He should invent a questionnaire for kids to take, the number of times he got this question.
