Okay, so far, so good! Heath had one toadstool, and he hadn't fallen off… yet.* If he could keep this up and catch one toadstool each bounce with no misses, maybe Ravenclaw wouldn't get slaughtered by Gryffindor and Slytherin all the other houses. He glanced around, trying to make a mental tally of the other students' toadstools, but there were way too many people to keep track of at once… especially while bouncing. Please, at least let us beat Gryffindor, he thought to himself. His sister would never let him hear the end of it if Gryffindor won, and he'd had enough of her Gryffindor superiority complex!
He shook his head, trying to distract himself. No point in thinking about that now! The only thing he could do to come out on top was keep bouncing. Up, down, up, down… He saw a red toadstool hovering above him. He bounced, reaching up as high as he could, and caught it. Thank Merlin he was tall for his age! With the red toadstool safely in his pouch, he looked for more nearby. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a purple one off to his right. He bounced toward it, reached up, and…
Missed. Ugh! At the rate he was going, they were never going to win… not that Heath particularly cared about the candy or lack of homework. The only prize that mattered to him was the points because points meant validation. That and he hoped that winning points would help him win more friends.
Heath tried again for the purple toadstool, he still couldn't reach it. Eyes darting from the tiny purple toadstool to the giant one he was standing on. something clicked in his mind. He was never going to reach that toadstool from this angle! He'd have to jump onto a different trampoline toadstool to get it. Well, here goes… He took a deep breath and jumped, wobbling slightly as he landed. After a quick moment to find his balance, he was back to bouncing. He turned toward the purple toadstool, taking a bounce in that direction, and - Got it, finally!
