Okay, so Rufus had sniffed her hand, that was a start?
“Kasha where are you going?” she asked as she watched Kasha simply flick her tail up and slink over to one of the haybales before slowly hopping up onto it and curling into a ball…what – had – happened? “Okay – so its just Benje and Rufus then?” she shrugged as she handed Rufus and Benje the treats. “Good Wampus Rufus,” she even gave him a small pat on the head, a soft and tentative one before moving to stand up. “if you want I can take his lead – you got farther and might be able to coach better with treats…and I mean, I used to walk Kangal dogs?” Quote:

Naya had to make sure he didn’t fall under the wampus’ spell.
Hearing Islay volunteer to take the lead, Naya nodded. “Ok. Benjie and I will try to lure Rufus along the obstacle course. I’ll stay in front of you and give him treats if we need to keep him going.” All that without looking him in the eye. Right. This was going to be fun. “Ready when you are”, Naya said. Maybe give him a treat to start and I’ll hold out some more so he can see them. And hopefully have him start walking toward her, not trying to bite her arm off to get the treat. “Come on Benjie. Maybe if you show Rufus how it’s done, he’ll follow you.” Naya gave Benjie a treat and started walking toward the start of the course. If she could keep the kneazle focused on her and not the wampus, that would be great. Benjie ate his treat and when his girl started walking, so did he. He found the wampus to be mildly interesting. Not as interesting as his treats, of course. It looked like they were going to do this jumping, climbing, running thing again. Cool. He liked how it turned out the first time. Rufus liked the pat-pat on his head, and enjoyed seeing the one feline known as Kasha leave EVEN MORE. Mwahaha. His plan was working. Except... except for that one exceptionally well-behaved kneazle who was following his h00man perfectly.
Rufus' yellow eyes narrowed, but he flicked his tail and set off after the two who were in the lead. If he could just pounce on that kneazle whenever the girl in the red house wasn't looking, that would be great... Text Cut: Noah Nam Nam Nam Quote:

Noah reacted too slowly. By the time he was about to pull the leash back to reign in Fiona, Louise was already picking up said wampus kitty. "Louise! Be careful. I don't think that's a good idea!" cried the older Lion who was tempted to pull the leash away to get the wampus out of her hands. "We did not agree on picking up the wampus, did we??" Then the Wampus turned her gaze to him. Oh no... Don't look at the wampus.. but she was cute? Those eyes were pleading... asking to be ... "DON'T LOOK AT HER!!" came a meow-rawr which was intended to distract Noah before he leapt at his legs. We have to stop them!!! He then glanced over at Lucy. What do we do? he meant to say but shot her a sad look to convey that message.
Noah was about to look into the wampus' eyes when ASLAN happened. He glanced down at the upset kneazle who.. was warning him? Oh yes, they weren't supposed to look at the wampus' eyes. "How are we supposed to help them?" he asked, glancing at both kneazles. He remembered that the wampus was trying to bait him over. Then he called out to Louise. "Louise, you HAVE to let go of Fiona... Trust me, okay?" Noah glanced to Aslan and Lucy. "I'm going to need your guys' help." He tightened his grip and was ready to yank the wampus out of Louise's hands. He just didn't want the wampus to slice all of Louise's hair off. She had such nice hair after all.... The boy was RUINING THIS ALL! Fiona hisssssssssed at the Gryffindor. She could already feel the n00se collar around her neck tightening as he tugged the leash, and she only dug her claws in DEEPER to the red hair.
If that BOY were to pull her away now, she would pull all of the red hair with her! On Franklin Delano Roosevelt's name she swore she would! Text Cut: Jillian & Phoebe whenever Ern sees this Quote:

She waited for his turn and as soon as she got hold of Rufus she held on to the leash and smiled at the wampus. "Good boy" she chuckled under her breath.
She took out the treats left on her pocket, is it okay to feed them too? She then opened her hand and slowly push it near Rufus. Would he take it? Would he like it too like the kneazle? She is hoping he wouldn't bite her. Fingers crossed. She took a deep breath while she waited for Rufus.
Okay, ready when he is. "Phoebe, Phoebe James..." Williamson called out to the Gryffindor with the cat named Beans, "come join Jillian and Rufus." He didn't want the Head Girl left alone with the tricky wampus, even though she was pretty capable. It wasn't her he worried about; it was the wiley wampus. Oh look, she was smiling at him. Rufus twitched his ears forward as he listened to the girl call him a good boy. Yes, more of this praise, h00man. Worship me. He came forward and sniffed the treats, but didn't take one.
Instead, he sat on his bum and opened his mouth, waiting to be hand-fed by the h00man. Text Cut: Aboli & Chloe Quote:

She nudged the kneazle with her foot who merely MROOOOWED in reply. She did take the leash, though. "Okay, Rufus. I'm Aboli and that's Chloe! We've got Sparticus and ..." she didn't know Chloe's cat's name. So she just gestured at the other cat and smiled. She was going to do her best to NOT look at the wampus' eyes, but it was kinda' hard. "Chloe, okay, here goes - I'll hold your cat while you go next if you want, too!" she thought she'd offer. Sparticus was still lazing around a few few away. "Ready, Rufus?" and she went at a RUN towards the first part of the course, trying to see if this cat!creature would be as stubborn as Sparticus. "I'll give you tasty treats if you're a good boy!" she added, not even sure if she COULD legally give the wampus treats, but eh. She would toss him one while W wasn't looking if she had to! Well well, the hoooooman had picked up another pet. Cool. Whatever. Don't care at all...not even a little bit....nope...over here, not caring.....
Sparticus eventually stood up to rub on Chloe's legs, meowing QUITE a bit in Aboli's general direction. Hello.
Over here.

"Good Kitty" Was all she really said to the Kneazle rubbing at her leg.
As Aboli started off with Rufus Chloe hurried to stop her, 'No, wait" and without warning she hit Aboli, she had no real reason to do it, but that Rufus told her too. Something with her motion and the feel of claws in her leg made her shake her head just as she was about to stomp down on the foot of her partner.
She jumped back and gasped, 'I'm so sorry, I.. that thing is dangerous." It was still cute, but oh so dangerous. Teacup was tied to the bag, but she was hissing and meowing and soon the bag was being dragged and her claws were in Chloe's leg. STOP IT HUMAN! Quote:

"I am so sorry about that, I can't believe that baby got me that much. I didn't think it could push me to do something like that." She still wasn't looking at it now and she went to scoop of Teacup, but the cat just hissed and moved towards Rufus. See she wasn't all naughty, she could be protective and sweet when she wanted to be, but now that curious thing from the cage had her tail in a twist and she was hissing towards it. MWAAAAAAHAHAHA. It worked! Well, nearly. No one had been stomped on, and that did displease him somewhat.
Rufus' tail flicked mischievously as he eyed the two girls. He pounced forward to intercept the treat destined for Chloe's cat, not because HE wanted it, but because he was in the mood to cause trouble and didn't want the cat named Teacup to have it. He bopped it off his head and then pranced forward, crushing any treats and all that had been dropped flat into the dirt.
Rufus then did a loopty-loo, showing off with his tail in the air as he wound his leash around and in between the two girls, and their felines, both of whom received a warning GROWWWWWWWWL from him. No hissing, Teacup, or you'll get a paw to the face! Text Cut: Blake & Tom Quote:

Tom smiled at Blake as he took the lead. He then looked at the creature in front of him. "Rufus, do you want to do the course or not?" Tom wasn't going to force any animal to do a course if they didn't want to, he might even change SPCW to S.P.A.W. "What do you think Blake?" Well well well. FINALLY a h00man with some consideration for him. Rufus locked his eyes on the boy named Tom and subtly shook his head, CLEARLY responding with a NOPE.
Instead, still maintaining eye contact with the boy, he flopped on his back and exposed his belly. Come closer, little lion man. Rub my belly. Rub my belly and promise me some deer jerky. And then loosen my harness, will you?
He also looked at the boy named Blake to try to lure him in too. Wouldn't Blake like to pet a wampus? Rufus was VERY clean and tidy. He'd licked himself just this morning, in fact, after he'd killed a rat he'd found in the Hogwarts barn. Text Cut: Heath & Flora Quote:
Originally Posted by MadMadamMalfoy Heath was so busy trying to keep Rey from annoying… whoever it was she ran into that he didn’t get a good look at the girl until she spoke. He was prepared for an angry reaction to his cat or a resounding no to his offer, but to his relief, neither of those things happened. Well, this hadn’t gone as badly as he thought! Heath smiled at the younger girl. “Nice to meet you, Flora,” he said. “I’m Heath, and she’s Rey.” He gestured toward the little gray cat purring at Flora’s feet. Purr, purrrrrrrrrrr… Yaaaas! Keep petting me, smol hooman! Oh, look! This smol hooman and Rey’s own hooman were playing nice. You’re welcome, hoomans!
Heath blinked at the mention of the obstacle course and the broken cat, unsure whether to be amused or worried. If neither of their cats had finished the obstacle course, how in Merlin’s beard were they going to guide a wampus through it?! His eyes darted from their cats to the wampuses, then to the obstacle course and back again as he mentally formulated a plan. “What kind of toys and treats does your cat like?” he asked. “Maybe the wampas - wampuses will like the same kind.” Jumping Jawas, he’d accidentally called it a wampa! He was going to have to be careful about that; those two words sounded way too similar! Okay, wampa = giant white hairy monster from the planet Hoth; wampus = North American cat creature that looks like a mountain lion and hypnotizes people.
As for which wampus to pick, it wasn’t hard. “I think Fiona’s our best bet,” Heath said. She seemed the less threatening of the two, which was especially important since Rey was tiny and Flora’s cat (whatever its name was) was “broken”! “Stay here with Rey and - what’s your cat’s name? I’ll be right back.” He thought it best to volunteer to be the leash holder since he was older and bigger than Flora and, therefore, less likely to lose grip on the leash.
With that, he walked up to the professors to retrieve Fiona, taking care not to accidentally lock eyes with the wampus kitten. Hey! Where’d my hooman go? Rey blinked, watching as the boy walked away. I go follow him? Nah, I stay here and let the other smol hooman pet me some more. Purr... Quote:

Right.
She may have looked up at him for just a tiny second, and when he didn't bend down towards her, her attention was right back onto his cat. She was a GOOD cat. A GOOD, cute and unbroken cat. She didn't expect they could trade.. could they? No, no, of course not. "My cat doesn't really like toys. Or treats. My cat is broken." She did mention that already, hadn't she? "Maybe we should just leave him where he is." Her cat was going to be no help at all. "What does your cat like?" Besides being petted. Pet pet peeeeeet.
And he was off to fetch the wampa wampus, which left her with the easy job. Sitting there, just petting Rey. "Catastrophe." Her cat's name was Catastrophe. Fiona was ready for her next victim! student interaction! She would play nice this time. Totally, totally nice. For the next two minutes only.
Two minutes was just enough time for Fiona to lead the way, prancing ahead of Heath like she was the best-trained pup in the world. In reality, she was very curious about the OTHER tiny cat and the weird-one with the eyes going in two different directions. Would they like to join her cat gang? She was forming one, just now, she'd just decided. Fiona pranced over to Flora and leapt up beside the first-year, locking her yellow eyes on the eyes of Catastrophe first.
Catastrophe....could Catastrophe play dead? Fiona wanted to see. She wanted to see if Catastrophe could roll over and flop down like a dead cat. Also, the kitten known as Rey? Could it pretend to be dead too? She, herself, was the best-acting wampus this side of the Mississippi. She'd pretended to be dead just a little bit ago when she'd hit that barrier.
Now, Rey... Rey should act like the first-year had just petted her too hard. And should fall off the bale like she'd just been squashed by a h00man hand. Yes, that would do. Fiona communicated her wishes to the two mundane felines with her laser-like yellow eyes. Text Cut: Cole & James Quote:

Pulling out a toy rat from his robe pocket that he had saved from the previous activity Cole tossed it to the kneazle in the hope that he or she would leave Eji’s foot alone. "Do you have anything on you that smell like tuna, shrimp or catnip? It could be why the kneazle isn’t leaving you alone." Most people would be happy for an instant kneazle infatuation. Eji clearly wasn’t. He’d let Professor Williamson answer if felines chose their peoples or not. Looking from Eji to the wampus kitten Cole said "Can we have a go at the course with Rufus, professor?" Not seeing that the professor was trying to make eye contact with his Gryffindor companion, Eiji continued to try and get the big fat drooling beast off his shoe and leg and just...did it have to keep purring so much?
"Don't felines choose their people, professor?" he asked DRYLY in reply. Because THIS one seemed to have chosen him and he had NOT picked it. May as well let the wampus cats decide which of them wanted to come over. "Sure, have at it," Williamson answered Cole, CAREFULLY handing over Rufus' leash. As for Rasting? He smirked. "I think you're going to have to take that one home with you, yes. He chose you. Wampus, though, they don't choose us, unless you're talking about choosing their victims for food....." He let out a short laugh. Only joking, of course, because wampus didn't eat people..... er.... did they? Most people were too fatty for Rufus' taste, and anyway, he was still a kitten who preferred lean deer meat and fat squirrels. For now.
Once the boy had his leash (and look at how nice Rufus was being in WAITING for this), he took off at a gallop, tugging him over to the course to see if the boy could jump over the obstacles as quickly as HE could. Never mind being led around; Rufus was doing the leading. Cole was the one on the leash in HIS mind. And his friend with the adoring kneazle? Yeah, they could come too. The whiny boy should probably just carry his fat cat, though. It was going to be useless against Rufus. Text Cut: Cece & Kitt Quote:

She didn't want the whole WORLD to know she hadn't found herself a partner, you know? "Hi Tom, hi Blake!" The third year smiled, waving Mate's paw at them. Only then she was being re-partnered, and this time to someone who'd actually requested to work with her. Hey, that was kind of a nice feeling, actually! "Bye Tom, bye Blake!" She'd be going now. "Kitt, this is Mate," Cecelia announced to her partner, showing off the kneazle that was only hers for class, but still felt very much hers. She set the creature down by her leg, trusting he'd stay nearby, especially with how he seemed to be eyeing Fiona. Speaking of, she accepted the wampus's lead and tugged very gently towards the course. "Hi Fiona, I bet you're very smart." She looked very smart to Cece. "What do you think will get her to go through the course?" She turned her attention to Kitt. "Mate liked the treats and all, but I think he liked going after the mouse more." Fiona WAS very smart, thank you for noticing. She sat still for now, watching the two in charge of her, and waiting to sniff out the weaker link. She was getting a bit bored by the talk, though, and so she started grooming herself, licking her paw and then using it to clean behind her ear. Had to double-check that she'd gotten off all the rat blood from the one she'd helped Rufus kill this morning. Text Cut: Avalon & Isla Quote:

So much for a fun afternoon with the felines. "Will do, Professor," Avalon responded quietly to his suggestion. She turned to Isla. "What if we just have her do some obstacles on the course with some toys to get her acquainted with it? And don't worry, I won't let go of this leash again." Honestly, she didn't even think it was worth it to try to run the course again. Maybe just playing around on it was what Fiona needed. Leash in one hand, Avalon pulled out one of the jingly mice toys from her pocket with the other. "Wanna play, Fiona?" The Ravenclaw tossed the toy back toward the course and started jogging after it, hoping Fiona would follow on the leash. Quote:

It was my bad idea that got us in this situation. I should have known that a wampus would act differently than a kneazle," she said. One thing was for sure. She knew it now, and she wouldn't be forgetting it.
She watched as the professor pet the wampus and determined her to be okay. Isla was an animal lover, and she would be glad to see any animal okay. But at this moment and time, she had never been happier to see an animal come to and be fine and alive. As WWW wandered off, Isla looked at Avalon again. "I don't think I'm his favorite person in the world right now," she mumbled. Anyway, exercise and toys sounded perfect. "Why don't we just start with a simple walk around the course. Just the perimeter. No fancy tricks right now." Fiona didn't seem to like the treats, so she wouldn't bother with going to get any of those. Okay, yes, fine, Fiona WOULD play. Anything to get the ATTENTION she deserved.
She waited until the girl had thrown the toy, and then took off like a lightning bolt. Hopefully this child knew how to run, because she was determined to catch the mouse toy before it hit the ground. Fiona leaaaaaaaaaapt for it, and snagged it in her mouth, skidding in the dirt as she held on tight to the mousie toy.
What next? She turned around and padded back to the younger girl, with the green House emblem on her robes. Fiona dropped the toy at her feet and looked up expectantly.

Uh no. Don’t think so Not happening. Not today. Then again, he couldn’t exactly get annoyed but it must have looked pretty funny. He was just thankful that Rufus didn’t have his claws out. That really would not have been fun. ”Hey, come on now Rufus, get off my back” grinning now as he turned over to face Missa and the sneaky little fur baby. ”Am I up for it?” he repeated as he got to his feet, brushing off the dirt and giving himself a once over, just to make sure he didn’t have any cuts. ”I dunno, you tell me…” and without warning, he took off running as fast as he could around the obstacle course without warning, the mouse all but forgotten. He figured Rufus would be quick so he’d take every little head start he could get. Besides, he was pretty fast when he wanted to be, mainly due to his long legs. Rufus was pleased at the reaction he received from the female prefect; he was not above preening for any and all females. He was an alpha all right, purrrrrrrpurrrrrrrrr.
Rufus waited for the boy to get a head start this time, and then took off again, this time dodging and whipping around the obstacles on the course to make the chase a little more interesting... was the girl keeping up with him? He had an idea, and now that he'd started flat-out running, he was able to bypass the boy entirely, running ahead of and around him in a circle.
If Rufus had done it right, now the girl would be trying to hang on to his leash, and would be forced to collide with the boy, as his leash would also be in front of him to trip him up...heh heh heeeeeeeeh.
