Anyway. He wasn't actually THAT worried, but still, he'd been hoping to NOT test out his defensive spellwork today...

Fiona, on the hand, was DEFINITELY determined to test out the spells around the perimeter of this place; not that she knew any such boundary existed. She was nearly to the edge of the enclosure now, and gave one last hearty push with her hind legs, propelling herself up, upp, upppp and away, straight over the fence----

WHAM.

The wampus hit the invisible barrier with a thud that echoed around the entire outdoor classroom space. She bounced off it and landed flat on the ground, not moving.

...even WWW couldn't ignore that one. He started running toward the sound, concerned but cool (on the exterior) for the condition of the little wampus. "Come on," he gestured for the girls to come closer. They were responsible for this mess, they should be checking on the wampus too.

Oh.

No.

Nonononononono.

The Ravenclaw gasped, stopping in her tracks, both of her hands flying to cover her mouth. Her eyes widened as she took in the wampus, splayed on the ground. This was bad. This was absolutely, terribly bad.

What she really wanted to do right now was jump over that barrier herself. She was mortified....this was her fault for letting go of the leash. But she knew she couldn’t run away from this one. Hesitantly, she knelt down next to Fiona, truly at a loss for what to say to Professor Williamson.

“I am so, so sorry, sir. I thought when you said not to let go of the leash you meant not to let go before the obstacle course started, and so Isla and I thought it would be okay to let go of it for just a second to let her through the hoop but now I understand that I should have just handed Isla the leash through the hoop and....” She was rambling BIG TIME, something she only did when she was extremely embarrassed. Or nervous. Or both. The words just tumbled out of her mouth. The only thing that stopped her rambling was the sight of Shadow, ready to pounce on the poor wampus. ”NOT a good time, Shadow!” She grabbed her cat before he could make things any worse and placed him in the grass behind her. ”Stay there.”

Turning back to Fiona and Professor Williamson, Avalon puffed out a breath of air. “Is she going to be okay?” Goodness, she hoped so. She knew that wampuses were hard to kill, so she was hopeful that Fiona was still alive. But if Avalon had seriously injured her, she would never forgive herself. Her instinct was to reach out and pet Fiona to try and comfort her, but she realized that it might only make things worse. Maybe she should just let the professor take it from here.

It wouldn't be fair to the wampus kitten, since she appeared to be knocked unconscious for the moment. And, at least, now they had a chance to grab the leash. He handed the leash to the Ravenclaw, with a mouthed, "HANG ON TIGHT THIS TIME."

"Rennervate," he cast quietly, pointing his wand at Fiona. Yeah, she'd be fine... probably. It was true that wampus were hard to kill, so. He gestured for Avalon to come closer but to still hang on to the leash. "I don't know what she's going to do when she gets up, so... hold on."

Fiona was knocked out, and the pain in her brain wasn't going away. She opened her yellow eyes when the spell hit her, but still laid there, blinking as she tried to remember what she'd been up to. FREEDOM! FREEDOM! Why was the oaf looking at her? The kitten meowed pathetically for attention. "Meowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww." Emphasis on the OWWW there.

Someone needed to pick her up. She was going to milk this for all it was worth. Maybe they'd feel bad and would just lay her down in the forest to die....

Isla hadn't thought things could get any worse than they already had. Once you're at the very bottom, there's nowhere else to go but up, right? NOPE. Turns out, you can get even further toward the bottom than you already were. The second year looked on in horror as the baby Wampus slammed against an invisible barrier and was knocked out cold in front of all of them.

With only a slight amount of hesitation, Isla abandoned the treats she'd laid on the ground and followed WWW over to get a better look. She just had no idea what to say, so she said nothing at all. Please don't be dead. PLEASE don't be dead... She glanced over at Avalon, who was steadily apologizing, and Isla suddenly felt like she should do the same. "I'm so sorry, Sir," she chimed in. Sorry for like...the fourth time this lesson. Avalon was right. They should have thought through the whole leash thing before just diving right into things.

She watched as WWW cast on the cat. Rennervate. Why hadn't she thought of that? Isla wasn't the best judge of things when it came to figuring out what to do on the spur of the moment. When the cat came to, Isla released a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding in. "Look, I don't know how I can make it up to you, Sir, but I'm going to make good on all the mistakes I've made in this lesson. All of them." She wasn't necessarily volunteering to scoop up more animal dung, but there could be some negotiations. She peered back down at Fiona, who looked to be like she was asking someone to pet and pamper her.

NOPE. Not Isla. She was volunteering the Ravenclaw for this one.
