And...he'd mark his son down as "dead" as well. Welp. That was particularly worrying and Malachi stared at his son for a silent moment, trying to figure out how serious he was being. "You wanna die? Because that's how you die. Kelpies aren't looking for friends. You've given it dinner and a show, no more, no less. Try again." PLEASE. "Don't be alarmed if at some point this term we do a seminar on basic safety." Seriously. Think of it like an extra lesson, a mandatory one if these answers were to be taken seriously. "I'm....going to move on now, but I want some of you to really reconsider your responses. If not for your sake, then for mine. I'd like you to live longer than however old you are when you run into a kelpie." Whiiiiiich......more on that later but concerned Headmaster was concerned. "Let's get into." With a flick of his wand, an army of wooden horses appeared; enough for everyone to have one. There the entire time, disillusioned until they needed to be seen. Ornery, ready to go, some stomped at the ground. Harmless. Or...well....he thought they would be, but now he wasn't so sure. Now some of his students wanted to sing to them and talk to them in soothing manner and PUNCH them and now he was thinking Recard may be busy in the next little while.
This...would be problematic. "You'll be practising the placement charm today, its incantation is "Fixate". What it'll do is, for those of you yet unfamiliar with this charm, it moves objects from one point to the next and secures it in place." He paused to demonstrate the wand movement twice for them and was willing to again until he reminded himself the horses weren't likely to do them in. Had to remember to breathe here. "The bridles you'll need are in the bucket over there." He pointed and waited for them to spot it. "Grab one then get practising. A point to note, you'll have to guide the object to where you want it secured." In this case, the face region but that went without saying, yes? "If there are no questions, go get a bridle then get starte--wait." Wait wait wait. "One more thing. Be careful, yeah? These horses aren't the most friendly." As a disclaimer to those who thought they'd be making friends today. "Happy hunting!" They'd...they'd understand why in a minute. OOC: Omg guys I looooved these replies. Thanks for the laughs Time for the mini activity!! For this, your character will need to retrieve a bridle and use the placement charm to get it on the wooden horse they choose. I'll be playing the wooden horses. Let's have fun
We'll wrap the mini activity in 48 hrs. Dinner and a show sounded incredible. Not his fault the Dad-master lacked significant vision. Kale had just decided, right now, in this moment, that Kelpies were deeply misunderstood creatures. Nessie was nothing more than a sugar booger.
He would not even mention how his father had no faith in his proposal. Surprise surprise.
Kale was so wrapped up in making his plan work that he missed some of the direction. Only the first bit. And it seemed easy enough. Fixate on the bridle. He wasn't sure what fixating on the bridle would do, but he wasn't the Professor.
No wait. Get the bridle. Then use fixate as a SPELL. Aha!
He figured that out by watching his peers. Thanks, friends.
Kale drew his wand and tried to emulate his peers. He squinted his lil eyes and observed them keenly. It wasn't uniform amongst kids, but he got the gist. He practiced the understood version of the wand movement a few times, really letting it settle in his wrist, before he spoke the spell aloud.
FINALLY, when he was feeling like he was ready to make a horse friend, he pointed his wand at one of the horses near the end and said with a swish, "Fixate!"
