was totally here the whole time
To be honest, a lot of the conversation went over Alexia's head. She wasn't even quite sure why she was here. She just read the announcement and decided that she was to come. All she was really getting was that the Headmaster was going to be their Head of House. Which meant that they really weren't going to be able to get away with doing ANYTHING less than good. You know that saying about parents having eyes in the back of their heads? That applied to parents, coaches, and Headmasters.
This was, of course, perfectly fine with Alexia. She was a generally good child. Some pre-teen mischief of COURSE, but she never did anything that the bad kids in her class did. She didn't think the Headmaster being the Head of House was going to be a problem.
Then again, looking at the faces of the students that had been here longer, she might be wrong. Some of them didn't look too happy. Maybe she was cool with it because she didn't know the Headmaster too well yet. She didn't have enough time to form an opinion of him yet, so the announcement didn't come with an emotional response. It was like saying that her mom was allergic to cats. Correct. It was also correct that the Headmaster was going to be the Head of the House. These were both facts.
Even though she didn't think she could be seen, Alexia smiled a warm smile at the Headmaster. She wasn't exactly FOR him being Head of House, but she wasn't exactly against it either. However, she thought someone should give a kind smile to him. It was a gesture.
Her smile stretched a little more when she heard the word sports. Alexia had been waiting to do some sports stuff again. She was actually starting to miss the practice workouts that her team was probably doing right now. The workouts! How bad was that? Her opinion was changing about the Headmaster. She might have been blinded by the sports, but still. The promise of friendly competition always pumped up her spirits.
