A mean one might be fun, and sure, she wouldn't mind being scratched, but eh. It might be a lot of work.

So she picked a white one with some black tabby lines. He was cute. Was it a HE? She checked quickly - oh yes, a he. Coming to stand near where the chalkboard and professor were, she held the kneazle gently in her arms like a baby. How cuuuuute.

"Afternoon, Professor Williamson,"
she said quite calmly.

First OFFICIAL year at Hogwarts, and here she was, being on time. The eagerness from earlier had, thankfully, worn off with her nap, so she would quit being insufferable shortly. Hopefully.
So had everyone learned his name whilst he hadn't yet learned theirs? "Good afternoon," he greeted the older, er, girl, who was cuddling a kneazle. Looked like the two were bonding already. Purrrrrrfect!

Taking a seat on a hale bale and smiling up at the Professor. "Hello Professor." Blake was unsure of his name ... he was sure doing the feast it would have been mentioned, but well he was busy looking for Isla and Bernadette... neither of which he was successful, his detective skills kinda sucked.
This was a younger lad, and Willy wasn't sure of his name either, but he was pleased to see so many students from his old house already. "Hello." Did the boy want a kneazle? He didn't seem sure about them.

Angry little meows escaped the basket every few minutes, and every once in a while a white paw would poke out of the small opening next to the latch and fruitlessly swat at the air.

"Hello," Nettie said with a small smile as she took a spot near the back. Immediately she felt a kneazle brush up against her leg, which seemed to just make Rudy even more irritated as he yowled from inside his basket.

This was going to go well...
A cat in a basket…. Heh. The sight of this Ravenclaw and her struggling basket made the corners of William's mouth twitch, especially when he heard the yowl from inside. "Hello."

He'd have to ask all the kids to introduce themselves and their pets once they got started, yeah?

So far, Hogwarts did not disappoint. The food was amazing, better than anything he'd eaten before and after every meal, he found himself looking forward to the next. Best place in the world, it was official.

"Hey, Professor." The Third Year practically had a bounce in his step. They should soak it in while it lasted but he was here for it.

"I don't have a cat and I don't know what a kneazle is but that probably means I don't have it ei--oh, hi there." Mid whatever he was saying to the Professor, he felt something against his leg. What a cute...strange....looking kitty. "What breed are these? Can I keep this one? I think he likes me?" Funny looking cat this one. Were these magical cats? Did cats have magic, TOO?

Kitt took the spot by that Blake bloke, knowing he at least was in his year. "Hey...hey mate, this one look like a winner to you?" There was an obstacle course. Clearly there would be competition.
Gryffindors were always an energetic bunch, weren’t they? “Hey, student,” he returned the greeting, then staaaared at the boy who seemed unfamiliar with his surroundings. Was he new this year? William was going to guess that he was new and easily impressed. These were just kneazles, after all.

"You can keep it for the duration of this lesson, yes," he answered patiently. But no, he wasn't going to tell him all the answers yet. He could crack open a textbook before they got started and figure out the breed from there. "Sorry, only cats, toads, owls, and pygmy puffs are allowed in the castle. And that's not technically a cat." He’d memorized this, see, per the Headmaster’s request.

... cats?

Ilya bet this class was going to be loud. Bernie must be ecstatic and will keep shouting and stuff. It was both funny and annoying. "Hello, professor." He greeted the man standing next to the chalkboard before taking a seat on one of the stacks. Almost immediately this Kneazle walked over to him and jumped up to sit on his lap. He had no choice at this point but to pet it and... claim it? Yeah. The Kneazle was tabby so that was cute.
"Hello," he nodded to the Ravenclaw kid and the tabby kneazle that was taking a liking to him. Hogwarts had some nice kneazles, eh?

Judgement was being reserved, and already they were not getting off to a great start for one main reason: kneazles. Not that Nem didn't like them, but they had always intended to get one as a kitten - they were more receptive as youngsters, making it easier to work around that unfortunate tendency common to the entire breed.

But anyway. "Good afternoon, Professor." Williamson, yes. And?

Ignoring the crate and the obstacle course, Nem took a seat on one of the stumps provided, giving all the roaming kneazles a wide berth for the moment. Best to let one of them come over, though Nem was nevertheless keeping an eye out for any that looked particularly young, stupid, or irascible.
Another Slytherin! This was cheering, really. "Good afternoon, WhateverYourNameIs," Wiliam found himself replying to this one. Had he said that last bit under his breath or over it? Regardless, it almost sounded like he’d said Nemesis instead of Nameis. Not that he would know the Slytherin's actual name, since one kid still looked like the other to him at this point.

"Hello, Professor!" Flora smiiiiiled at the man before turning ever so slightly and gesturing towards the cat who was dangling limply under her arm. "Is it okay if my cat is broken?"

Blep.
Er…. Something was wrong with that cat, William was sure of it. "Hello," he replied to her, no smile needed, as he was mostly focusing on the attributes of her pet. Why was its tongue out? Was it part Siamese? Were the eyes always this vacant? He was tempted to boop its snoot to see.

"We'll fix it," he answered the girl regardless. Maybe it was broken because she was carrying it around like it was a hog???

Professor Williamson seemed like a cool professor, but the lesson would show more of how he was as a professor. Things seemed promising though.

Coming down to the fenced in grassy area with the obstacle course and with many kneazles walking about Cole firstly turned his eyes and attention to their professor, flashing him a bright smile. "Good afternoon Professor Williamson. I hope it’s okay if i keep my cat in her carrier until the lesson starts? I'm not sure if Elena will like all the other cats and kneazles." He had only known her for a week so he was still learning her personality and likes. Going over to an empty hay bale after giving the obstacle course a glance over, Cole took off his backpack and placed it on the ground. Taking a seat on the bale, he placed Elena’s carrier in his lap as he waited for class to start.
"Good afternoon," Gryffindor, another Gryffindor. William swore they traveled in threes. "Sure, that's fine."

He hadn't, uh, considered this trait about cats, being more of a dog person himself, but...well, the cats had their use for later in the lesson. So.

That reminded him to poke the crate he was now leaning on, but it didn't make a noise. All was well, then.

The Creatures Professor was tall and easy on the eyes, to which Carsyn only hoped it would improve her attention span in the class. Acceptable wasn't bad, but she had hoped for at least an E.

Kneazles though....interesting. Would Cleo be safe? Reaching her hand instinctively into her robe pocket, she coddled the gerbil feeling it quiver beneath her fingertips. Perhaps leaving it in its cage in her dorm would have been wiser. "Good afternoon, Professor," the prefect stated, glancing down at one of the kneazles that found a comfortable place curled up by her feet, as if sensing the quivering small mammal she had in her pocket.
If Williamson knew that the Gryffindor prefect, of all people, was carrying around an illegal pet in her pocket, he most certainly would have made her surrender the gerbil to the animal in the cage. It probably would have placated the beast.

As it were, he eyed the girl and whatever she was touching in her pocket, and returned her greeting with a cool nod.

A smile formed on her lips as her eyes wandered around, spotting the professor. Mr. Williamson right? "Hello, Professor" she greeted with a smile. And cue the adorable kneazle that brushed against her right leg. Obviously she has to take it .... Wait! Are they allowed to keep these after class?
At least the Head Girl (from the best House) didn't appear to be up to anything. "Hello," he returned her greeting more cheerfully than the previous student. Hello hello and welcome.

Normally, she would sit by herself but today, for some reason, she chose to sit with Nem. There was something about his bubbly personality that would be good for her. "Hi, Nem,'' she said, choosing a stump right next to his. "Had a good lunch?"

Also... interesting obstacle course there.
"Good day," William greeted the quieter student with the big stare. What? What did he do? He hadn't even done anything yet.

Nevermind the fact that Isla still hadn't formally asked for permission to have her kneazle here at the school. She'd brought along Maleficent anyway. Maybe this new guy ('Friend of Schmoe', apparently) would just think he'd given the go ahead! After all, any friend of Schmoe's would probably just go along with whatever, right?

"Hello, Professor!" she said, and she gave the most nonchalent 'hey, how you doin' wave she could. Then she moved off to the side, by her super awesome third year crush Blake, and waited for class to begin. "Hey, Blake!" she greeted.
Ahhhhhhhhahahaaha. Somone actually brought a kneazle to class. William had certainly developed a darker sense of humor after living in the dark for half the year and alone for all the rest of the time. When he'd said students were welcome to bring their cats to class, he really did mean it. But the kneazles? That was just a trap. All the kneazles would have to stay in the barn AFTER class.

"Hello," he greeted the girl, and her black kneazle. "So what's her name?" The cat, not the girl. He'd figure out her name shortly. And, "You haven't been keeping her in your dorm, have you?" He almost felt bad for Piers, y'know, ha ha ha ha. He should get her Head of House to search her dorm for contraband now.

Silly Slytherin. Rule-breaking is for Gryffindors.

With that Chloe turned and headed for a seat not even saying her mother had said hello or anything. She did however try to figure out his age, because how young was he when he taught if the girls were all about him? She just didn't see it.
"Hello," he turned his attention to the next student, who...who….great. She was the child of one of his former student. Awesome! Being this old rocked! Totally!

"Tell you mum I said hi," he replied, just blushing at this sentence already. "Er, who is she though?" He really, really needed to start working on learning the kids' names. Starting….now.

Figuring that the obstacle course in front of them was for the cats or kneazles, he wandered over into the throng of the giant cats and waited for one to approach him, giving the professor a nod and a pleasant ”Good afternoon Professor. How’s your day been?” as he did so. After last year, he’d decided to make a little extra effort to be that extra bit pleasant and approachable. He didn’t want to leave Hogwarts with a bad reputation.

After a minute or two, the giant prefect bent down and outstretched his hand towards a jet black Kneazle with a friendly smile. ”Hey there little guy” He had to admit, he kind of liked the little fellow. After all, he’d wandered over to him despite the fact that he was a giant in comparison.

Standing up with a smile as the Kneazle nuzzled against his legs, he flashed a few smiles to some of the students he knew before heading towards Chloe ”Hey, what’s up assassin?” flashing her a grin now as he nudged her gently. He didn’t want to send her flying after all, even if it had been amusing when he’d done it in the summer. Not wanting to seem too rude, he also flashed a polite smile and nod towards the guy (Curtis) on her other side ”Hey, What’s up?” not really looking for an answer but you know, it was polite.
It was always good to see a Prefect in class, especially a Ravenclaw one. They were the best-behaved students in the school, right?

"Hello," he greeted the kid with a few Schmoe-like blinks. Wow, someone asking how HIS day was? "It's been fine, busy, you know." He had animals to take care of, pens to repair, kneazles to bribe into helping with his lesson, just the usual stuff. "Thanks for asking." Really, WWW appreciated it. And he appreciated that the kid was being nice to the voidy Kneazle. Some people could be biased against black cats, y'know?

Taking a seat on a hay bale next to Cole, Naya tried to get a peek at his cat. “Hey Cole, is that your new friend?” What had happened to his rats was really sad. She was glad that he had a new pet to help take his mind off of his loss. As she set her bag down, Naya noticed that a kneazle had decided to in front of her, but not too close. He looked at her as if he was sizing her up and deciding if she was worthy of his company. Naya chuckled to herself and waited patiently for the kneazle to make his move. “It’s ok. I wont bite.” As if understanding her words, the kneazle inched closer until he was right at Naya’s feet. Was he going to be her partner for the day?

Unlike the owls, who could at least deliver letters, Shadow didn't have much of a purpose, other than to keep Avalon company.

With Shadow tucked under her arm, she traipsed down to the castle grounds, only to see some sort of an agility course set up. Were they going to be doing agility with cats? Avalon thought those types of obstacle courses were only for dogs. Nevertheless, she greeted the new professor with a friendly smile. "Good day, Professor." She took a seat on a bale of straw, keeping Shadow on her lap for now.
What a floofy kitty! William was impressed by the cat, which looked well-cared for. "Good afternoon," he returned the Ravenclaw's greeting.

He took a seat on the nearest empty hay bale, gently setting Rey's carrier down beside him. His eyes darted from the roaming kneazles to the obstacle course. If that was going to be used for what he thought it would, he and Rey were going to wipe the floor with the competition!

Wiliam hadn't thought about this much, but the pets could be a comfort to some kids. Well, for now. Hopefully, there weren't too many more kittens in the castle, he thought, because they wouldn't be much help today, even though they were pretty precious…

An obstacle course? Hmm... Interesting. He wondered what they were going to do today. Lead cats and kneazles through the obstacle course or be lead by the cool cats and kneazles? Ah yes, now time to choose a companion for this. He wished he had Jinx with him but he had left the cat at home with his siblings. His youngest sister couldn't bear the thought of being separated from him so Noah and the feline had to say their adieus.. OH? What's that? He could feel something rubbing against his leg. Glancing down he found a bright marmalade coloured kneazle who looked as if he was using his leg to get rid of an itch. He slowly bent down, holding his hand towards it, and watched as the kneazle immediately brushed up against his friend. "Aren't you friendly..." he spoke with a smile. "Want to be my partner? Can I pick you up?" The kneazle continued brushing against his hand contentedly. Noah began to stand back up and the creature looked offended that he had dared stand up and remove the hand. "Can I pick you up?" he asked before reaching down to cradle the kneazle in his arms.

With a very content kneazle in his arms, he joined the rest of the students near the chalkboard. "Afternoon Professor! How's your day?" he greeted.
He'd never admit this out loud, because he was tough and old and grumpy and kids didn't melt his heart like they used to, but William was always chuffed when he saw kids talking to animals. It was something he did himself, and this kid? Well he looked like a good egg so far. He'd even asked the kneazle TWICE before picking it up.

"Afternoon," he returned the greeting with the smallest of smiles. Aww, another kid asking how his day was? NO. HE WAS NOT GOING TO BE SOFT THIS YEAR. "It was alright, thanks." There. Good. He'd maintained his cool exterior.

Why? Because hey, the obstacle course wasn't for him, by the looks of it.

"Good afternoon, Professor," he said, quietly. He missed Nostredame. A lot. The man had a very pretty face. But that was something he couldn't talk about now, so he simply flashed Williamson a small smile before shuffling off to find a kneazle. Any kneazle that would have him. Did they have to choose wisely? He hoped not. Something told him he couldn't pick and choose with something like-

Oh?

Bending down, Lucas wasted little time in picking up the brown and grey spotted kneazle. He immediately noticed the different colours spots around its eyes, and that its eyes were almost as green as his own. Huh. Could he keep this one? For this class but, well, if they were allowed to keep them after class was over..........

Still holding onto the kneazle, he turned around and went to sit in the closest empty spot he could find. Did it matter where? Not exactly. He had bigger things to worry about.
"Good afternoon, Prefect….." Uh, again, another name William would need to learn. He turned away hastily to cover his blunder by pretending to fidget with the covered cage.

That most likely wouldn't bite off her hand or anything like that.

Problem was, she didn't have a cat. At least there were lots of kneazles around. They looked cute, and mostly approachable. She really should have figured out how dangerous these things were or not. Wait, her Professor wouldn't let them learn while holding dangerous animals, right? They had to be safe!

Speaking of Professors....

"Good afternoon, Sir!" She had on a warm smile that seemed to reach her brown eyes. She was very excited for this class. Although that might, again, be the coffee she drank.
First years were also easy to tolerate, AND William couldn't feel bad about not knowing their names. "Good afternoon," he greeted the smiling girl with the pinkish hair.

The third year was very excited about today's lesson because she'd noticed that it listed to bring your pet cat or kneazle, so she was the MOST excited to be able to bring her feline cuddle buddy, Astrid, (formerly known as Princess temporarily) with her. She had no idea why, but Faye was definitely not questioning it. Any excuse to spend more time with her, she would definitely take it.

Soon arriving at where today's location was being held was when she was able to look at the fenced-in area, raising an eyebrow very curiously as she examined the...obstacle course? Huh, interes-OH WERE THOSE KNEAZLES?! She contained her excitement as she carried Astrid to find an available seat that wasn't taken yet. In doing so, she gave a polite acknowledgement to the Professor waiting for everyone to arrive, "Hello Professor, hope you enjoyed your summer..." Making sure not to fall over or drop Astrid, the redhead settled down waiting for the beginning of today's lesson.
Another kind kid… heh. "Thanks," he responded to her greeting. "I did." Well, there had been the new job and the moving continents and everything else… but those were all good changes for him. So far.

Even his pet owl, which his family has had for years mind you, didn't care much for him. But of course his mother insisted that he take this old creature. It had gone to Hogwarts with every one of his older siblings. Dylan had told her a thousand times over that it was too old to deliver letters, but of course he was too young and didn't know what he was talking about.

Which all of that basically boils down to Dylan not having a cat to bring to class today. Thankfully there were little Kneazles roaming around.

He nodded to the professor, curious as to what was under that blanket, and wondered over to the area of kneazles. He knelt down and tried to get any of them to come up to him, but none were biting. They all took one glance at him and turned away, as if he smelled like a dog.

Getting up after a few minutes he looked around, suddenly feeling very nervous. There were a lot of different kids, many of whom were not from his house. It wasn't until his eyes landed on the pink haired girl he met earlier did his nerves calm down a little bit. At least she was a friendly face. He walked over to her and smiled, not feeling up for talking.

Large crowds made Dylan nervous. There were many times he would get lost when out with his family. There were six kids in total and he was the smallest at the time. Which was a recipe for disaster every time. Once they were at the zoo in London and they had forgotten about him in the bathroom, and he'd spent 45 minutes crying by the tigers. Now that he thought about it, maybe that's why animals hated him. He had one instance where he cried and it was like every animal afterwards could sense his fear.
Some kids probably shouldn't be forced to take Care of Magical Creatures. Was this one of them? William watched the cautious Slytherin, who didn't greet him, but it didn't bother him. He wasn't the most talkative man anymore either.

Carrying her black cat Sir Snuggles (thanks seven nine year old self) she kept looking at all of the other students... and their professor. What exactly were they doing today? Moving closer into the circle she saw her housemate (Alexia) and a slytherin boy (Dylan) talking to her. She nodded her head before swerving off to the side so she can find an empty hay bale... ick.... to sit on.

Smiling she turned toward their professor, "Hello Professor." Seriously were they about to have cat races or something? Sir Snuggles would not like that. She also really needed to give Sir a new name.
Well that was a cute cat. "Hello," William returned her greeting. "What's your cat's name?" Oh, well he could have saved that question for later…

Oh, the kneazels were cute. Reaching her hand down she pet one as it brushed against her leg.

“hey cutie,” she said the words to the cat as she took a seat near Noah.
He was almost used to the staring because Willy could give a good stare back. So he did. "Good afternoon," he returned her greeting and her wide-eyed look. Maybe he should've made the kids make name tags? Egh he'd probably forget to look at them though. He learned better by listening.

"Afternoon Professor." He said in greeting as he made his way into the group. He may not know a whole lot about animals but the one thing that Drew did know was that it was better if the animal picked you and not the other way around. So he stood still amongst the wandering Kneazles until a grey and white one rubbed against his leg before lying down at his feet. Apparently this was the one then.
"Afternoon," he greeted one of the older students to class, a boy who looked full-grown, honestly. But that was good. They might need some muscle later.

Throw up entire socks, that's what.

"Hi, Professor. This is Beans," Phoebe waved Beans' little paw at the man to show him those picture perfect toe beans. That's where she got her name. Perfect little Beans. "And she is perfectly legal." Ahem.
Beaaaaaaaaaans. Heh. William found himself smiling just the TINIEST BIT at the Gryffindor and her floofy cat. "Hi there, and hi Beans." He actually waved back at the cat's paw. WHY DID THESE KIDS HAVE TO BE CUTE? And of course Beans was legal; she looked like an ordinary cat. He appreciated that.

It simply was the 17-year-old perpetual state of being and aesthetic, as some would describe it. Professor Williamson also was a reminder of the seventh year's failure to his bloodline, not that he was thinking about THAT as he stepped into the area with his jaw already set and offered the man a curt nod before moving over to collect himself a creature of the day.

He could only imagine how love struck Rebecca was looking right now too.

Eiji's choice of pet was a hairless rat, so of course he did not own a cat or a kneazle and he gave his selection very little thought as he scooped up the nearest one to him. Which just so happened to be a rather large black cat who purred immediately, was essentially an affectionate potato, and drooled. Well...at least the cat matched the color of his soul: black.

Yes. James Eiji Rasting was being dramatic.

Lugging his furry burden over towards Missa and Nina, Eiji sighed. "Hi."
Ah, he'd been wondering if Kurumi's kids were going to come to class. "Hi, James," he greeted the reluctant Slytherin. "What, you can't say hi to me now?" Yes, he was going to use his perfectly adequate, legal name, if only because the kid looked so sour before class had even started.

Merlin.

Not only that, but she had been entertaining herself with imagining what Eron’s expression would be as he saw the sheer number of felines gathered. Plus, there was a moment of wondering if her sister had Cleo with her, but she knew Carsyn would keep her gerbil safe. Just as she knew she’d make sure Gwydion was on his best behavior during the lesson. Her little warrior ought to know better by now anyway.

“Good afternoon, Professor Williamson,” she had said as she’d settled onto an open haybale, settling Gwydion on her lap.
Willy turned his attention from the grumpy Snake to a cat-laden Hufflepuff prefect. "Good afternoon," he greeted her kindly. Annnnnnnd now that she was sitting, he checked his watch and then looked up for any last-minute stragglers.

If he could of he'd have transfigured Tank to be a cat but his Big Beetle was being oddly uncooperative this morning worrying him a bit. So so the Teenage Ravenclaw moved toward a hay-bale and took a seat sitting beside Carys nodding toward the Care of Magical Creatures Professor. "Afternoon, Professor Williamson" he spoke as one cat suddenly hopped up beside him and began to paw at him as if he wasn't fed. If Mark knew one thing about Cats it's that they were in fact fed.

He gently lifted the cat up and looked at it. It was a Fluffy Golden Orange colored cat...."Uh hello Roger?" Sounded like a good enough name to him. Was this cat even male?
Ah, here was one now. "Hello," he greeted the lad. Good, good he was getting a cat. Okay, that was that. NOW it was time to begin.

So, now that everyone appeared to be settled and bonding with a cat (or kneazle), it was time to officially start the lesson. William picked up a bag of kneazle treats, rattled it noisily to get all the animals and their humans' attention, and then stepped forward into the center of the area to begin.

"Right, so as you've all seen, we have some cats and some kneazles here today, and maybe some other animals as well." William didn't glance at the covered crate but he WAS thinking about it. "On the topic of cats of all shapes and sizes, please tell me what you already know about magical or mundane cats? What kind of care (and CAUTION) is required of these animals? If you brought a cat to class today, how do you care for it? Do some breeds require special care? As you answer, please, uh, tell me your name, and your pet's name, and don't be afraid to build onto each others' answers. If I like your answer, I'll toss you and your feline a treat." Just a little incentive to get them going and to keep the cats settled (for now).

OOC: ONE answer per person though, as the options here are pretty limitless! =D we'll move on in ~18 hours idk.
