She had indeed been repressing memories about this boy for the last thirty years (heavens, had it been that long?!) and now they all came flooding back to her with the horror and guilt and just general horror she felt whenver she heard Jake (Jakers) Upstead's name.

The redhead had to breathe in through her nose AND her fish mouth to collect herself, and she looked as pale as a sheet, but she lowered her wand as she asked, "What--- who---" Ahem. "What have you been up to?"

If only Ethan were here right now; she knew she shouldn't have left him at home. He was FAR MORE EQUIPPED to deal with Upsteads than she was. And yet, look at her, inquiring as to Jake's wellbeing not because she cared but because she wanted to go home and brag to her husband about this incident. She was behaving HErOICaLLy toward this former student and his spawn. Magnanimous, even. Look at how amazing she is. JUST LOOKIT.
That was satisfying. Maybe a little too satisfying, like obnoxiously so, but... well, where was the harm? Exactly. Nowhere. No harm in a little amusement. Uh. Usually.

"Upstead," Jake confirmed, all chipper. There was just really something to be said for randomly encountering your old foe nemesis mortal enemy teacher, when you no longer automatically lost out on the upperhand because of that whole 'children respecting authority' thing (which, by the way, he was now a strong proponent of, what with being in charge of several dozen problematic children... or at least it felt that way, at times - but he wasn't very well going to say that). Not that he'd ever... well. ANYWAYS.

Jake grinned at Bunbury Truebridge Anastasia Bunbury like he hadn't noticed her pale face or uncanny goldfish impression. "Oh, you know. Parenting," he jerked his head back to indicate Ezra. "Working at the ministry. Law enforcement." That part was said pointedly, just because of the surprise it was usually met with by people Jake reunited with after a long time.

"And you? How's... David?" He'd heard about her son years ago, through the real Truebridge (the one who had always miraculously tolerated Jake) and then again through the Kettleburns. Only a vague knowledge - though enough that he'd surmised that the boy might have known his sort-of-eldest - but it was polite to ask.

Jake Upstead did manners now too, see.
