The Makarios were decided to be together, not only to shop at Diagon Alley, but also to take their daughter to her 1st Hogwarts Express ride. Alexandro had just returned from a very complicated exploration in which his job was to curse-break around historical ruins in Macedonia. Thankfully the mission was paused as a new permit was needed to enter a royal tomb.
Megan was a healer, she had just started her own small business assisting witches give birth in their homes, hospitals were definitely not her type of work environment. Also for their luck, there were no babies scheduled to be born on her appointment list at this date.
The whole family arrived at King's Cross at 10:30 AM. Going through platform 9 and 10 brought Allison's parents beautiful memories and goose bumps. They couldn't believe how time flew by. Allie was wearing her best summer dress and comfy sneakers, she loaded her trunk and owl on top of a station trolley with the help of her father and together the three of them ran towards and through the wall into platform 9 3/4.
It was a dream-like scene, the steam and the people running around, friends meeting again, parents and grandparents saying goodbye. There were a lot of emotions being exchanged in that place. "Remember (purposeful tense pause), you have my blood in your veins and there is no way that sorting hat will place you in the wrong house. You will do great, and your mom and I will be an owl away!" She gave a tight hug on her dad and held some tears from falling down. Allie was really nervous about the sorting ceremony and wanted to prove herself to be the best daughter they could have ever asked for. Except, she already was. "Don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle, remember that my baby. You don't need to change to fit in, the right people will accept you the way you are. Your dad has an inflated ego besides being a great actor too, yes, he is my favorite person in the word after you, but it's not all about the house you get sorted into, you wouldn't be doomed if you happened to go to Hufflepuff, like myself." Her mom gave her a huge reassuring motherly hug and threw a look at her dad for having so many set expectations on Allie.
Unable to speak up words, Allie walked towards the back of the train and after she found an empty cabin she pressed her face against the window and waived goodbye cheerfully to her parents. It was a bittersweet moment. She loved her parents, but she also loved the idea of facing life on her own for a few months.
After the engine started and the train departed she wished there was someone to share the ride with. They say you meet your true forever friends on your first ride to Hogwarts... I wish I could say the same happened to me. She pulled out a chocolate frog from her hand bag and started to enjoy it while looking at the card, not really reading it, but lost in la la land.
