"Pulveris!" the second year cast, drawing the circle and line quickly as she pointed her wand at the aloe vera leaves on her tray. BOOM! She had aloe dust. Bernie coughed a little at the sudden change but was pleased the spell had worked.

Now she had to decide what else to put in her tubs? Eh? "Professsssssor," the lion popped her hand in the air, "what other stuff should I add to make a shine...." uh, "serum?" A shine serum! That sounded good.

Was this going to be his first visit with a student into the ingredient room? Gus was THRILLED. And maybe a little happy that it was with Bernie, because she was probably going to make him laugh. He thought she was a hoot. A HOOT. ”Ah. Bernadette! Of course, of course. Let’s go see what I’ve got in store that will work for you.” And so he scooped up a couple of collection dishes and led the way into the ingredient room.

”So, for a serum, we’re going to need a liquid base. Specifically an oil. And you want a shine. Soooo.. I’m thinking argan oil for your base. It’s good for shine. Reallllllly good for shine, even. Maybe even mix in some grapeseed oil?” Double oil would work if she mixed them well together before adding any of the powder in. ”I’d suggest some green tea leaves, lemon zest too.”

”Do you have anything else you want to do for your hair with it?”

Just to give it an attractive, minty aroma…’’ Claudine liked the scent of mint, yes she did. “Also… please check these ingredients for me.’’ She needed his opinion, okay? But she was back to labelling her tubs. On each was written Name: Claudine Blaze. Contents: Claudine’s Nourishing Scalp Repair Cleanser.

Wandering between the workstations, Gus caught sight of Claudine’s list and took a quick read of it. Impressed, definitely. She’d gone with a scalp treatment which was something very important. And she was thinking of all bases. Gus was IMPRESSED, OK. ”Yes, Claudine?”

OH. MINT? MINT!!

”A sprig of mint would be great for a scent. You could always pop in mint tea leaves for both a scent and the benefits of the tea leaves for your scalp and hair. I would...um… I’d put a base in there. It’s very targeted right now and not so much a treatment. Bulk it up with some extra things for your hair. Smashed avocado works wonders. Seaweed, too.”

”SO. What’s the plan with ingredients, Isla? Do you have any thoughts yet? There’s lots on the list for moisture and split ends. Also heat protection.”

Setting the tubs down onto her station, she went to collect her dried aloe leaves from the dehydrator.

GUS HAD SEEN THAT SMILE !!!!!!!!!

HE SAW IT, NINA CASTILLO !!!!!!

She thought he was great, didn’t she? OH. He was making breakthroughs with this difficult one. She loved his classes and she thought he was awesome. She wasn’t alone. He could tell her that. He thought he was pretty awesome too.

He waited until she’d gone to get her leaves to check out the label on her tubs so he could see what she was making. OOH. DRY SHAMPOO.

YES NINA.

He was excited to try this one out.

She was a hair gal ok?
