He then added his sopophorous bean, and picked up his glass stirring rod. “Leaving it whole, rather than extracting the juice, lessens the soporific effect…instead making it more of a relaxant. The potion should turn a turquoise blue at this point, and once it has you’ll need to stir briskly seven times clockwise, until the mixture turns a pale blue-grey.” He did so, using what could perhaps be described more as a whisking action than a stir. “Then turn off your burner, and leave to cool for three minutes…it which point you’ll need to sweep your wand over the top of the cauldron, keeping your movements smooth and calm, and your wrist flat.” He demonstrated, finishing off his own soothing solution in the process. "Please continue." Quote:

Just then, the professor began to explain what they should do next. Naya turned back to her work. Donning her gloves again, she got her valerian sprigs and sopophorous bean. Then she added the sprigs to her cauldron. One, two, three. After turning the heat up, Naya waited for the potion to have rising bubbles before dropping her sopophorous bean into the mixture. Then, more waiting until the potion turned a pretty turquoise blue. Naya was relieved that her potion appeared to be looking good so far. She placed her stirring rod into the liquid and began to stir in a clockwise motion, while counting to herself. “One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.”
Naya waited hopefully and at last, her potion turned the required blue-gray. Was it pale enough? Naya wasn’t sure, but she hoped that it was. She turned of her heat and set her timer for three minutes. When the time was up, she swept her wand over the cauldron. Smooth, calm, flat wrist. Check. Cole's face light up with a bright smile after the praise he got from Naya. "Thanks, I couldn't have managed it without your help." Maybe he didn't have too big fingers after all? He didn't have time to say anything else to his housemate and friend before Professor Noble got demonstrating again. Focusing back on his work Cole made sure his gloves sat on right before he plucked up 3 valerian sprigs from his potions kit and dropped them one, two, three into his cauldron. Turning up the heat on his bruner he sneaked a glance sideways first at Naya and then at Cora to see what heat they had their burner's on. Cole adjusted the temperature slightly on his burner to mirror theirs and then waited patiently for the liquid to start bubbling. He then proceeded to add the sophoros bean that he had gotten from his potions kit.
With his glass rod in hand he watched and waited for his potion to turn a wonderful turquoise blue before he briskly started stirring one, two, three, four, five, six, seven times that he counted off to himself inside his head. If the potion didn't immediatly turned into the right colour should he stir more? Unsure Cole held his tongue as he watched and waited nervously. Moments later the potion turned pale blue-grey. Letting out a long sigh of relief Cole turned off his burner and sat his timer on 3 minutes. When the time was up he grabbed his wand and swept it over the cauldron in smooth and calm movements, making sure his wrist was held flat. Had he now successfully created a potion without causing a mess? If that was the case then it was definitley big writing home worthy news.
