Was Eiji Rasting blushing? Yes, yes he was. And it was all because Professor Noble had noticed his struggle and pointed it out...along with further confirmation that he was among the few struggling with this step. He had not seen what Jillian was doing, entirely too focused on his own process for that and it was already a little too late since he had plopped his into the cauldron. "Perhaps next time, professor," he nodded hurriedly as slight panic sneaked in. He had lost too much precious time in trying to brain those stupid stalks.

Sweating a bit, Eiji wiped his brow with his sleeve and dropped the sprigs of Valerian in and turned up the heat. It started bubbling, as expected, but the solution seemed...thicker than it should be? Maybe? Adding the sopophorous bean may help thin it out a bit. Yeah, yeah that would do it. Sure. He nearly squished the bean a little with the side of his silver knife, but caught himself last second and dropped the whole bean in and.......... that was not the write color.

It was...kind of turquoise. Kind of not. And the way it was bubbling was not promising either.

He could fix this...there was always an ingredient to counter balance things. Too much salt, just add a bit of water to thin things out...or sugar...or... bloody hell where had he gone wrong in the process?

Was it the stupid stalks and his haphazard braiding?
