Was she unaware of the bucket? Of course not, although she’d slipped the notes she’d been using to study for exams away once the lesson had begun. Carys was fully aware of the bucket over her head through the discussion about how someone could stay dry in a rainstorm, through the revelation that they were learning the water-repelling charm…She was aware but generally acting as if the threat wasn’t anything to be afraid of. Especially since she was fairly certain what was in said bucket.

As they’d been released to practice the charm, she’d taken her wand out. Impervius was one charm she was already pretty familiar with from Quidditch practices in all types of weather, but practice made perfect. she’d murmured the charm a few times, tapping the glove on her non-wand hand, and subsequently tipped a bit of water from the glass onto it. The first couple tries weren’t exactly foolproof. The glove was a little damp by the third time when she charm kicked in fully and she succeeded, but she was confident enough when the lesson moved on to cast it on her schoolbag, her clothes and the top of her head in the seconds before the countdown began.

She wasn’t about to risk her study materials just for a shower, and once she felt prepared she glanced at those sitting around her to see if anyone needed assistance. Besides, she wasn’t about to risk splashback from her own bucket hitting innocent bystanders.
