And that was when she felt something touch her, which she had NOT given permission for anyone to do, so the woman recoiled at the touch and shot a glare at the heathen who had dared to do it. She instinctively began to reach for her wand... but as she was from a portrait, she did not have one. And it was a good thing for the boy, or he might have found himself living the remainder of his life without fingers.

Rowena took a deep breath as this Professor scolded the child for his actions with an empty threat and the loss of two points. Two.

"I'd like to reevaluate your consequences, child," Rowena said sternly, still glaring at the boy and, for the most part, ignoring the professor. "Seventy five points will be taken from Gryffindor and you will receive detention. Tonight. I'll see to it myself." He had touched her after all. This other woman didn't know what she was talking about.

After a moment, her eyes drifted over to a girl, one she had spoken to in the hallway the night she had found herself outside of her portrait. Now, she brought up a good question. Personally, it was a little difficult to answer. Her own death had come early, produced by betrayal and a broken heart. Why would she wished to use the stone to prolong such pain? Rowena watched the girl for a moment, considering her answer... and then decided to avoid it altogether. "Keep using your mind like this, young lady, and you'll go far." It was a compliment.

Now, at this question, Rowena almost laughed. Sure, the girl was young, but what were these students even being taught at this school these days?! "Oh, my dear. Perhaps if your history lessons were decent, you might know the answer to that!" What a shame!
Oh no she did NOT.

Gabriela felt her blood boiling as this woman - portrait - whoever she was had the nerve not only to insult her teaching abilities, but also tried to undermine her authority by giving Kodee a detention and docking him 75 points! SEVENTY FIVE POINTS. Growing up, Gabi had always known that she was not a fan of the know it all attitude that Ravenclaw house seemed to emulate - and now, if this woman was indeed Rowena Ravenclaw in the flesh, she knew now without a shadow of a doubt that she completely loathed it.

"Alright, you've had your fun. I'm going to ask you once to leave or I'll have to summon Headmaster Trent," she told the woman, showing great restraint in the fact that she hadn't taken her by the arm and thrown her out of her classroom herself. No, she had to be a model to her students, and violence was never the answer.

Not to mention the fact that people aren't meant to live forever. You just can't fight with fate and expect to win. Flamel was a smart man. He knew that.

Anyway...

Isla left her seat to collect the poster board and some ink. An activity sounded fun, even though she wasn't sure what they were going to do with all this if it didn't involve drawing. The first year returned to her seat, laid out her materials, and waited for whatever this was to begin.
Deep breath, deep breath...Gabi had taken care of the Ravenclaw situation (at least, if the founder had any sense, she would heed her warning and leave her classroom immediately) and she turned back to the young Slytherin, closing her eyes for a moment as she re-centered herself. "Good thinking, Miss Bellchant," she told her with a soft smile at the Slytherin's rebuttal to her answer. She could have kept up a discussion with her, but they had to move on, after all!

Well, you could add Bernadette to the count. From his seat, Kodee had caught the way she'd managed to cop a passing touch and was quite pleased she'd pulled it off.

"Definitely life like." He agreed to her muttered words. The Professor's words, he cared somewhat less for. "You're only harping on his debt." He told her. "I gave a ton of reasons why he'd suddenly wanna be dead. Why d'you only care about the amount of money he carried in his man purse?" Sheesh, the man was long dead. Any money he'd made wouldn't profit her in the slightest. Maybe she should try being less obs--

What?

75 points and detention and ...that...detention...she planned to...

What started as his best attempt at holding in a laugh quickly erupted into a proper laugh. The back of the chair was the only thing that prevented the boy from being bent double at the woman's...threat. Oh Merlin, ooooh Merlin, just when he thought History of Magic would never be interesting. "Oh, certainly Professor Ravenclaw." Kodee snickered. "Will you be wanting me to polish your portrait frame?" Detention? A dead woman was trying to give him detention. Even more, she was trying to overrule Recard and THAT was the funniest bit. "Pass, I'll keep listening to my actual professor, but thank you. I needed to be woken up some. Someone gimme me one of those board things and some ink?"

Why get up when there were others already standing?

"Money problems and debt are statistically the largest source of anxiety in people's lives - I'm just going with what you brought up earlier," Gabi pointed out to the Gryffindor, quite enjoying the way he was thinking outside the box, to be quite honest. If he had just applied himself more in class and didn't give in to his every impulse, maybe he'd be more successful.

AND he had stuck up for her to Ravenclaw! Gabi wouldn't let him know how truly pleased that had made her, of course, but she smiled at him. "Thank you Mister Chosen. Your original punishment of two points lost stands - please disregard what she said," she told him, as if that weren't already obvious...

SIGH. And then he had to go do THAT. "Please go get your OWN materials, Mister Chosen," she said with a small exasperated sigh.

The Slytherin herself never knew what it’s like to be poor but she would have liked to think that Flamel might have and empathised with the less fortunate. She answered Recard’s question without much thought for the response was very much predictable in her opinion. “Because he wasn’t that type. He was probably content with what he had.”

Suddenly, Claudine was perking up. Arts and craft? Art was her element and a wave of excitement went through her which made her forget all about Rowena and Kodee’s detention and point loss. But then Recard deflated her. No drawing? How rude. Still, she made her way to the front to collect a poster board and three different colours of ink.
"Excellent response," Gabriela told the young Slytherin, appreciating the way she had thought about her answer and entertained the discussion for her. The younger students were actually doing quite well for their age in this debate - she expected more of the OWL and NEWT students. Tsk tsk.

Moving on, he went up and got himself some paper and some blue ink, it was always fun to write in different colors rather than the standard black all the time. And then heard the 75 points ................. Merlin's Beard!!!! That seem a tad unfair ....
Pleased that Blake looked less...ill, Gabi smiled at his answer before moving on to the next response.

Naya smiled when she found out there would be poster boards and ink involved in the next part of the lesson. She was a little disappointed that there wouldn’t be any drawing involved, but it could be fun nonetheless.

Naya was just about to go get her supplies when things seemed to go off the rails. Rowena Ravenclaw kind of took over and began speaking to various students. Apparently she was not holding anything back. 75 points taken from Gryffindor? Seventy five? Sure Kodee was rude, but was it seventy five points worth of rude? No fair punishing all of Gryffindor with that many points taken away for his cheek. Could she even do that?

Tempted to sit back and continue to watch things unfold, she decided against it. Naya went up to the front of the class and got a poster board and some carefully chosen ink. If they weren’t going to draw, she was going to make sure whatever she did looked good.
"It's always intriguing to try and think of how people may have impacted history if things had been different, isn't it?" Gabi smiled at the young Gryffindor before making her way back to the class. Her discussion was clearly winding down, which was fine by Gabi. They'd gotten so off track thanks to their little intrusion by this Ravenclaw imposter - so she was more than ready for some light arts and crafts time.

Gabriela had decided to simply act like Ravenclaw was just...not there anymore. If she had anything more to say, she would simply have to say it to Trent, because she was not entertaining this NONSENSE anymore. She had a class to run - and her curriculum was planned out brilliantly and her lessons were delivered flawlessly, despite what the woman seemed to think.

"So for our little arts and crafts project - we'll be making chocolate frog cards for ourselves!" she said with a grin. She picked up another box from the table and started to make her way down the aisles of desks. Inside were templates for their chocolate frog cards to make them look as authentic as possible. "Chocolate frog cards are one of the best ways to introduce young witches and wizards to history. Flamel obviously has his own card, and is also mentioned on Albus Dumbledore's card - if you recall, that was how Hermione Granger created the connection between the Philosopher's Stone and the mysterious trapdoor at Hogwarts guarded by Fluffy," she reminded them all as she continued passing out the templates.

SPOILER!!: Click me for template!

"Those poster boards you collected earlier are charmed to become photographs. All you need to do is simply imagine your favorite portrait of yourself, and TAP the board with your wand. Viola! It'll instantly appear on the poster board. Use that, along with the template, to make your chocolate frog," she explained. It was much more convenient to just provide them the materials instead of asking them to bring a photo and risk having them forget.

"Of course, that's not all we'll be doing. In addition to making a chocolate frog card of yourself, I'd also like you to write a small blurb about your accomplishments. What do you want to be remembered for? Do you want to be a famous singer? An accomplished alchemist like Flamel?" she smiled at them. She wanted them to use their imaginations and let their ambitions run wild! "It doesn't need to be a novel, just a small paragraph of 3-4 sentences will do. I'm quite excited to see what you all come up with, even if it's a little ridiculous!" she admitted. If any of them had ever seen a chocolate frog card - which she would bet just about EVERYONE in the room had - they would have an idea of what she was looking for. Oh, this was going to be thrilling! Even if Ravenclaw continued to hover about.

"Alright, have at it! You have the rest of the class to work!" she announced before clapping once again - her sign to get going - and letting them loose to work.

OOC: MAIN ACTIVITY YAYYY! So it's a pretty self explanatory activity - make a chocolate frog card and write a historical blurb about yourself that you would find on your card!
  • You do NOT need to make a graphic to accompany your card if you are not graphically inclined. If this is the case, please describe IN DETAIL what your characters photo looks like, OR save a picture of your character that they selected to your OWN IMAGE ACCOUNT and post it in place of the chocolate frog card
  • PLEASE USE YOUR OWN IMAGE ACCOUNT to upload any graphics! Do not hotlink! I cannot stress this enough. If you need help with any of the graphic related parts of this assignment please let me know!
  • If you do choose to use a photo/graphic please do not post anything larger than 200 x 200 pixels. Anything larger should be hidden under a spoiler tag like I used for the template - if you need help with this please ask!
  • As Gabi said, the description for your card doesn't have to be more than 3-4 sentences long. Imagine what your character's wildest accomplishments could be and have fun with it!
  • YOU WILL HAVE 72 HOURS TO COMPLETE THIS ACTIVITY (aka until Monday night CDT). Gabi will be around to help y'all if you need help, just put it in the title of your post!
  • To get full points, you simply have to post your finished card and your description! Points will be awarded for details and creativity
  • As always SS and SS RPG rules apply. Thanks!
