What she was displeased about in that moment was that her attempt at Disarming the Gryffindor had failed. The Slytherin gripped her wand a little tighter, ready to defend herself. She felt pretty good about her chances up until Cole mentioned her House’s Founder. “What?’’ she asked in disbelief and at the same time her wand shot from her hand. Claudine barely noticed where the Hungarian Horntail heartstring wand went. Salazar Slytherin was there? Indeed it was- or someone looking like him- standing next to Trent. And Trent seemed to be loosing it. Unfortunately, the man wasn’t the only one. Blake had outright fainted. That came as no surprise and Claudine was unimpressed by the boy’s reaction.
Then the door to the Arena was being thrown open which made her jump slightly. Claudine stared, her gaze following the newcomer. “And… and that’s your Head of House.’’ she whispered to Cole as she moved closer to him, all thoughts of their duel driven from her mind. “But it can’t be. They’re both dead.’’ Two someones must have transfigured themselves to look like the Founders.
It was apparent that Slytherin and Gryffindor still were determined to keep their feud going. Gryffindor’s laugh only made Claudine angry. “Slytherins are not faint of heart,’’ she snapped loudly. Cole wasn't always as happy go lucky as it probably seemed to most of his peers. It was just easier to put on a sunny front then to share his inner demons with everyone. Some things he wanted to keep private. He didn't know anyone aside from Carys and Carsyn and his sister well enough to feel comfortable with sharing sensitive stuff with at Hogwarts. Cole admired Claudine for always just acting like she felt at that current moment. Her thoughts and feelings we're mirrored in her face and body language just like he knew by looking at her now was that she was displeased or upset for not managing to disarm him. He was though 3 years older so he had more experience. Cole was not going to point that out though to her.....
Watching Claudine's wand fly off, Cole turned away to pick it up for her while Claudine stared over at Salazar Slytherin or the guy that dressed up like him. Headmaster Trent seemed to be close to be losing his marbles as his granny would say. What Claudine said next made Cole forget that he was holding the other girl's wand. Eyes darting around the arena his jaw dropped in wonder at the sight of Godric Gryffindor he whispered to Claudine. “I uh, don't know..I can't explain it. They look like they are really here. Maybe someone has dressed up to impersonate them like it's Halloween too soon or something...." Cole was grasping at straws.
Then Claudine did something amazing. She stood up to his house's founder claiming that Slytherins we're not faint at heart. Eyes widened in amazement, Cole quickly swallowed before he reached out to pat Claudine on her left arm to get her attention while he held up her wand to her. "Can't we continue our duel? Nothing good will come from angering a founder guy Claudine. Please?"
