The only thing she kew about the bloke was his name. Kalen. As soon as she had heard it she had to promise herself not to laugh at the fact the guy had the same name as her cousin's house-elf, but it was very helpful as Anna wasn't great with names. Kalen was a name she COULD remember, thanks to Sophie's grumpy elf.
Whoever had the idea of having this at the bowling alley was a genius, though. If it all went downhill, they would at least have been able to compete had a friendly bowling match and that in itself was fun enough in Anna's opinion. The first thing she heard when she got nearer to the place was some loud and random shouting. Huh, was her brother in there or something? Snort.
As Anna walked in, she went straight to the counter. Standing behind this guy, she couldn't help but overhear what he was saying. To butt in or not to butt in?
...
Butting in it was. "Hey!" The brand new professional Chaser - WAHOO! - greeted the person in front of her with a friendly grin. "Are you Kalen?" Eh, what did she have to lose after all?
Just DON'T think of the elf, Anna, don't think of the elf! Lol. Intent on trying to hear the person behind the counter’s response and figuring the ‘Hey!’ was just some more background noise or some random person yelling at someone they knew (or were mad at) Kalen leaned forward over the counter. It was the sound of his name that caught his attention. What had come before it though, he hadn’t caught. ”What?” he turned around, one hand still on the counter as if its anchorage would attract the attention of the person working behind it. ”Who? Oh- that’s me. I’m Kalen.” He blinked owlishly for a moment wondering what exactly he was supposed to be doing. ”Ah….”
He’d never been on a blind date (or many normal dates for that matter) and while bowling had been his idea, he wasn’t sure what was supposed to be happening now. Was this Anna? Or someone who knew her? Had she sent someone to tell him to bugger off because blind dates were dumb and who wanted to hang out with the weird American who had just moseyed into town? If she was Anna, she was cute. If she wasn’t Anna, well, she was still kinda cute. So…he should just ask already right? ”Arreeee you Anna?” Perhaps he should have asked her to wear blue or maybe orange – yes, orange would have stuck out in a place like this. Blue wouldn’t have. He made a mental note for the next blind date he set up: Ask the girl to wear a bright color so you know what to look for. Oh! Or even better. A big goofy hat..like that lady who had the giant turkey on hers out in the shopping center.
