As an incredibly private person, Nina finds it difficult to open up to others. She is far more at ease when she is able to cover her true nature underneath the safety of the mask she wears in public. Her flirty bravado, judgmental analysis of others, and brute honesty are only some of the ways in which she hides her true, vulnerable self.
She uses highly careful consideration with each and every word, firmly believing that less is more. Nina would much rather listen than speak, and enjoys interactions in which she has ample opportunity to familiarize herself with her company rather than carry the conversation on her own. This makes it far easier to understand what a person wants to hear. ❝background Beauxbatons (September 2095 - December 2097) Nina has always had difficulty fitting in with the other children her age. She preferred to spend her time with books rather than toys, and puzzles rather than people. Because of this, she became a target for bullies at school. Throughout primary school and her first year at Beauxbatons, she was constantly ridiculed for her interests, appearance, and mannerisms. It wasn't until she found a way to befriend those same bullies that she finally made friends her own age. But being friends with bullies came with dire consequences. As a result, Nina learned to be cruel and judgmental. I'm so bad at writing bios. But basically she's decent, but it's hidden underneath a big ol' mask. ❝hogwarts
Third Year (January 2098 - June 2098) After her mother found her father with another woman, Nina was forced to leave Beuxbatons behind in the middle of the term, when she was made to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Nina Castillo hated everything about the castle. She hated the food. She hated the people. She hated the changes. She hated that her Common Room was in the dungeons. But most of all, she hated having to start over. During her first night at the new school, Nina cried herself to sleep, waking the other girl’s in the dormitory and earning herself the nickname ‘crybaby’. The rest of the year followed a similar pattern, the girls in her dormitory continued to make fun of her, Eloise and Karlin even setting her bed on fire. Nina received her first kiss this summer, a kiss which she had been anticipating for as long as she could remember. Unfortunately, she chose to kiss Keenan Burton, who was not very kind about it at all!
Fourth Year (September 2098 - June 2099) Despite her initial hatred for the school, Hogwarts had grown on her and she was looking forward to returning to the school in the fall, especially because her best friend, Navid Asadi, was transferring in from Beauxbatons. Unfortunately, the ridicule she faced in the dormitory last year did not subside. This year, Eloise and Co™ stepped it up a notch, soaking Nina's bed with water and leaving her with a custard filled pillow. The hazing followed her throughout the year, but there were also plenty of exciting moments as well including her "skateboarding lessons" with an older boy (Beau Montague). She had also grown quite familiar with Calloway Bennigan this year, who took issue with Beau during a Halloween Party hosted by Aaron Botros and Jolie Chosen. And that is when Nina Castillo learned that having boys fight over you is not at all romantic. This was also the year of the legendary #lettergate in which Calyx Morgan-Bott sent anonymous love letters to both Nina Castillo and Eloise Fairfield. Somehow, Nina ended up with both letters. An! Ordeal! Another unfortunately memorable moment this year was that of the Hogwarts' boggart invasion. While nearly drowning in the boathouse water alongside Eiji Rasting and Trinnetta Gladin was absolutely terrifying, it taught them all a very important lesson: Trinetta is never to be trusted with an oar. With the entire school being uprooted and moved to Hogsmeade, Nina's diary fell into the wrong hands... And Eloise Fairfield ahd spilled some of the confidential notes to someone who definitely was not meant to read them. In terms of her coursework, several of Nina's Professors had noticed her strange behavior in class and the inconsistency between that and her homework assignments and her exams. With this in mind, she was made to have several meetings with Professors and was given many warnings in regards to her participation. After the exhausting events of this year, Nina was quite glad to be going home for the summer, but her train ride home brought on yet another surprise in the name of Calyx Morgan-Bott.
Fifth Year (September 2099 - June 2100) Nina's summer had been one of absolute misery. While Nina had been away from school, her parents had gone through with a divorce. Navid Asadi's presence was a great deal of help during this time, as was her day showing Calyx Morgan-Bott around her hometown. When it was finally announced that Hogwarts' students would be taken in by Beauxbatons this school year, Nina could not think of anything worse. She dreaded the merge of the two schools, something she and Eiji Rasting could bond over. Nina chose to make herself scarce around the castle, instead focusing entirely on her studies and upcoming OWLs. She began to raise her grades within classes and received only top scores. She had managed to avoid all the drama, until it was announced that there would be a Valentine's Ball. When Calloway asked her to the ball, Nina immediately froze. As she entered the winter holiday, her mind was entirely distracted. The only moment she truly had to herself was when she went to the Morgan-Bott household for a dress fitting, after which she spent some time with Calyx. Calyx had prepared an elaborate picnic in the greenhouse and by the end of the day, Nina had a boyfriend (!!). Upon coming back to school, Nina broke the news to Calloway who did not take it well at all. The two did not talk to one another for several weeks, almost damaging Nina's new friendship with Lenora Bell. Things sifted over with Calloway, only to be made awkward by Becky Rasting's match-making service for the ball. Another notable moment was receiving a detention in Professor Sissay's classroom during an exam, all thanks to Adrian Navarro and Manaaki Jćger. /Boys/. Towards the end of the term, things started to look up for the Slytherin and she thoroughly enjoyed the end-of-the-term ball with Lenora, Calyx, and all of her other friends. With summer approaching, there were many things to look forward to. Nina had been invited by Calyx to attend the wedding of Charlotte Kettleburn and Henry Whittebrook, she had obtained an internship at the Ministry of Magic's Department of Mysteries, and a weekend visit to Paris with Indigo Rousseau.
