SPOILER!!: Replies to Stella, Cole and a mention of Minjae and Noah
Ewan couldn’t help but give a friendly wave and smile to Stella as she approached him, happy to see the fifth year Gryffindor. “Hey Stella making room for her now to stand next to him as they waited for the room to fill up. Subconsciously, he clocked the boy whom he’d met in Diagon Alley this summer. For a brief moment, he wondered if he’d ever found a gift for his man servant but that quickly died. He’d had no idea what to get him in Diagon Alley.

Smiling as he turned to the sound of his name, now imagining the boy trying to cook a meal as the surprise, he turned this time to yet another Gryffindor greeting, this time from Cole. “Hey Cole giving him a nod and smile as he walked past. The Gryffindors seemed to love him this term. Well, most anyway. It just goes to show that not all of them were obnoxious after all. Speaking of obnoxious, Noah was now nodding towards him. Despite them not getting off to the easiest of starts, he gave him a small nod back. He may not have appreciated the boys’ attitude yesterday he did greet him today so why not give him a chance. He’d soon prove himself, or not, today anyway.

With the lesson starting now, his eyes became fixed on the headmaster as he listened intently to him, ready to answer whatever question that was put in front of him. So, they’d be looking at duelling this term? Interesting first topic, sure to bring out the excitedness in some of the first years no doubt. Having already learned to duel through uh…first-hand experience in his previous years at Hogwarts, he was well versed in duelling and could answer this easily enough.

Putting his hand in the air until called upon, he replied “Duelling isn’t just about flinging spells at each other. There are a few things you need to do before a duel can begin” In all honesty, as much as Ewan liked sticking to the rules, if he was ever in the position where he had to duel to the death, he wouldn’t be bowing and showing his opponent any respect. He’d want to get the first shot in but, seeing as this most likely wasn’t what Headmaster Trent was looking for, he continued his answer “You need to bow as a sign of respect then separate from your opponent before counting down from three”. The if you considered what could go wrong with younger students who didn’t know what to do or which spells to use, it really could end badly, assuming that they obviously didn’t want to kill each other of course which, to be fair, seemed very unlikely anyway. Finishing off his answer now, he continued “As for the actual spell work, without supervision, you could do some serious damage to your fellow student unsupervised.” He’d heard stories of many a student lose their head and cast spells which have then done some serious damage. “When you consider this, having someone around who can advise you on the proper use of spells as well as to help anyone who has suffered a serious injury then becomes essential”. He’d covered all the basics there, right?
