Else, he'd have to force himself to sleep because the first days in school are super important. Noah didn't have to confirm that with Catherine, besides he would like to be properly awake for all the announcements. Especially if it has something to do with extracurricular activities. Those are always the best!
And really, what is up with his sister acting all strict and proper? "Sure mum," he said with a mocking tone and a sigh. "Merlin, you make me sound like I don't know how to behave at all. We're in school, not a training ground for soldiers or uniformed personnel. Calm down. I'm a Mordaunt too." That's the trouble with Catherine, honestly. Her shields are always up and she has a way to make him feel like he's not worthy of being a Mordaunt. Just like her, he knew of the power of the family name and the dignity it holds, and it would be a REAL disgrace if he did act like a literal pig on the table. The thought left Noah with a bitter taste in his mouth, not knowing exactly what it was, and he was quick to dismiss it.
With a smart sister around, it was just natural for the weaker sibling to assume that she knows everything at this point. "You know most facts about Hogwarts. Aaaaand maybe you could have heard someone on the train mentioning clubs. It'd be super weird if this school doesn't have a couple of those. I don't want to believe that muggle schools are better than Hogwarts."
Again, another shrug was given as he turned towards the group of older Ravenclaws present and tried to single out one of the prefects...or anybody who looked old enough to know about the school's clubs. For once, he was rather interested... Quote:

She had actually taken a seat right across from him, but before he could congratulate her personally Noah's named had been called next, which made sense. he was next alphabetically after her. So he clapped for him once he was sorted in Gryffindor.
He quickly turned his attention over to some of his other housemates. Smiling toward Nettie and acknowledging her with a small wave, he gave a nod to Drewett obviously, and a wave to Chloe as well. He was gonna talk with Catherine mostly now so he had to keep his attention toward her.
When he turned back around he just witnessed Noah giving Catherine a hug..When did he? Had he even gone over to his over table yet?
Mark just listened intently to their conversation about potential clubs. Sounded like this was his chance to chime in so he let out a bit of a gruff "ehem". Look here. Older Brother Mark Gunter could be your guide to the Clubs of Hogwarts. Catherine knew that Noah was well aware of what she meant, so she didn't bother replying. He was going to 'party' with his crazy loud housemates that evening and that was a fact. It wasn't even worth debating it, so Catherine let it go too. Besides, she knew he didn't care that he didn't know hardly anyone there yet, he would change that soon enough. Probably that very same night he'd end up with at least 7 or so new friends.
Not her business.
The first year let out a soft scoff when Noah said she made it sound like he didn't know how to behave. Well, that was because half the time he didn't. Or he pretended he didn't. To be honest, she knew he just didn't care, which was probably even worse than all of the other alternatives. 'I'm a Mordaunt too.' "Then make sure to act like one." She told him. It was the least he could do.
And there went Noah again assuming she knew everything. That always made her roll her eyes, because she really didn't. Not at all. She could have heard something on the train, but not in the circumstances she was in during the trip there. "I was only with Cecelia and another first year. We didn't talk about any clubs." And by 'we' she meant mainly 'they', because Catherine didn't particularly engage that much with the two girls - which now made sense why they chatted so much. It turned out Charlie was in Gryffindor too. Sigh.
At Noah's remark about not wanting Muggle schools to be better than Hogwarts, Catherine raised an eyebrow again. And they say she was the judgemental one. She quickly turned her head to see who was trying to butt in get their attention, only to see Mark there. Oh. True, he was a Ravenclaw too. It wasn't all so horribly terrible then. Still terrible, but not horribly.
But what did he want? Before he said anything, she heard the Headmaster cling his goblet to call their attention. She blinked and turned to listen to the man.
Catherine was immediately unimpressed by the fact he was saying the Castle was still in a state and shook her head ever so slightly when her brother looked at her. Yes, she knew about what had happened the year before, but that was no excuse. Didn't they have many, many elves here at the Castle? Catherine knew it first hand that elves were very capable, hard working, diligent creatures that got the job done very quickly and effectively. Maybe there was something wrong with the elves here and they weren't properly trained? Or it was just a completely different approach to house-elf duties. Of course, Catherine wouldn't 'groan', but that didn't mean she was impressed or happy about it.
She listened then as the Headmaster introduced the new professors, wishing he would introduce the ones that weren't new as well, so she could learn their names. She supposed she'd have to wait until the actual classes to find out the other professors' names, and that thought made her quite uneasy.
And what in the world did he mean by 'good luck, Ravenclaw' when he introduced their new Head of House? Catherine did not like that one bit.
Lastly, the man mentioned the Forest Catherine had heard about. She refrained from sending her brother a stern look to emphasise he should not be going in there, because she knew the look alone might be what made him want to go there more. Insane people would be insane and she couldn't do much about it.
Except tell mum and dad if he ever did something that stupid.
