Glancing around now that she was seated, she listened to Fletcher as he spoke. Yes, the finer things in life. January liked to splurge on occasion as well, though she had a feeling it wasn't as often as he did. "No, I haven't ever been here before," she said, politely ignoring his compliment for professionalism's sake. "It seems lovely, though." And it seemed like an establishment that had a good wine selection. She did like wine.

"I have to say, Fletcher," she said as her eyes scanned the menu. "I am glad it was you who won the bid." She had an eye on her table where the bids were placed on occasion and had been mildly concerned a time or two. "You know, since I'm already somewhat familiar with you." And because she had zero interest in impressing him, so this really was just a great opportunity for free wine and food. He was paying, wasn't he?
Fletcher was just going to take this all in stride. It seemed to him that maybe January was hard to impress? Was she tough and icy, and full of cold wind, like the month she was named after? This was his impression of her, sometimes, it seemed, so far. Maybe he just didn't know her well enough yet.

Ah, alright. He was going to pretend she was impressed then. "Yeah, they," you know, the Muggles, "can build nice things for themselves -- and us -- to enjoy on occasion," he leaned in to say. Don't worry, boss; he wasn't breaking the statute of secrecy, even though he had already charmed the place up and down. "Would you like a drink?" He sure would.

Fletcher also picked up his menu to scan their cocktail selection, and moved it a second too slowly to hide his somewhat interested expression. She was glad he'd won the bid? Huh. Because of... familiarity? Wow, such a compliment. Not. "But don't you know just about everyone at work?" Fletcher looked up from the menu, his brow a little bit furrowed. "I'm just new. I thought this was a good opportunity, you see." Or was January worried that someone... unsavory would win the bid? He was suddenly reminded of some headline he'd read about her in the Daily Prophet, a few years back...

"Didn't you use to have a stalker or something?" he started to chuckle, looking back down at the menu. "Good thing that guy didn't win, huh." Heh heh.
