"Well," the junior undersecretary shrugged as though they were just hanging out in the office like any other day, "either you do know better, or my master plan has worked already and you are impressed?" Fletcher cracked a grin at January. Surely it was the latter, huh? "I figured that I might as well make the most of the opportunity for us to have some fun outside of work. I don't know about you, but I enjoy treating myself to the finer things every once in a while...." He glanced out at the view. "So, anyway, you look very nice, Mrs. Bones. Have you been here before?" It was a Muggle establishment, so he didn't blame her if she hadn't.
January gave a light laugh to his response, but as to whether or not she was impressed, she said nothing further on the matter. If it was something he was worried about, she thought it might be fun to keep him on his toes. And if not, then no harm done. "Thank you," she said when he pushed her seat in for her.

Glancing around now that she was seated, she listened to Fletcher as he spoke. Yes, the finer things in life. January liked to splurge on occasion as well, though she had a feeling it wasn't as often as he did. "No, I haven't ever been here before," she said, politely ignoring his compliment for professionalism's sake. "It seems lovely, though." And it seemed like an establishment that had a good wine selection. She did like wine.

"I have to say, Fletcher," she said as her eyes scanned the menu. "I am glad it was you who won the bid." She had an eye on her table where the bids were placed on occasion and had been mildly concerned a time or two. "You know, since I'm already somewhat familiar with you." And because she had zero interest in impressing him, so this really was just a great opportunity for free wine and food. He was paying, wasn't he?
