| Arts TRANSPONSTER! Catherine was trying really hard to keep calm, but she had been failing pretty much the entire day, so by now she was almost giving up. This was the moment she was most dreading and with each step she took towards the front of the Great Hall, the exact moment she knew was going to change her life forever got closer and closer.
The young brunette was the palest she had ever been and was indeed holding on to dear life tightly to her twin brother's hand as they walked in, trying her best to ignore all eyes that were now on their group. She hardly took notice of her brother's reaction as her terrified gaze was fixed upon the one object that was about to change everything for the both of them.
When the group reached the front, she stood as still as she could as if that would make her name not be called. A pointless thing, she knew, but she couldn't help it. At least she was able to control her breathing and those that didn't know her might have even be fooled to think she was actually calm. If it wasn't for the fact she was still as pale as she could get, that was.
The amount of time she waited for her name to be called felt like an eternity, giving her plenty of time to think of at least 37 different things that could - and probably would - ruin her first few days at the school. When they reached the letter 'M', however, Catherine stopped thinking of all of these problems and held her breath until they reached her surname.
When 'Mordaunt, Catherine' was called, she felt light headed and squeezed her brother's hand even tighter, not wanting to let go at all. Why did they have to be separated? Why was there such a thing as Houses, which split siblings and best friends up like that? What kind of mean school did that to their students?? That definitely didn't help the learning environment, not when they were all stressed for not being near those they knew.
The eleven year-old slowly made her way towards the stool, placing the hat on top of her own head after she sat down. She was somewhat relieved when the thing covered her eyes, because the fact the entire school body was now watching her made her feel sick. She hated this moment with all her might and her palms were sweaty. Catherine held onto the sides of the stool, pretending to shift a little to sit better, but really, she was just trying to stop her hands from shaking.
Stupid feeling, everyone went through that and they were mostly fine. Why did she have to have sweaty, shaky hands and look like a fool front of the whole- "RAVENCLAW!"
Her train of thought was suddenly cut by the loud voice of the Sorting Hat and her body went stiff. No, she hadn't been hit by a Full Body-Bind Curse, it was worse. She had known it was coming, though. There was no way Noah would be placed in Ravenclaw, she knew that for a fact, and Cecelia was already in Gryffindor.
This was it, her worst nightmare had arrived and would be reality for the next seven years of her life. Probably longer because the circumstances would make Cecelia and Noah drift apart from her and they wouldn't even be friends anymore because those two were good at making new friends, which meant they would soon forget her as she as left by herself in another House, another Common Room, another part of the Castle entirely.
The applause coming from the Ravenclaw table did not comfort her one bit. It did, however, prompt Catherine to take the Sorting Hat from her head, carefully place it on the stool she had just been sitting on, turn around without looking at anyone and head to 'her table', eyes always on the ground.
