A new broomstick was more than she could reasonably ask for from the Stemps for Christmas, not that it stopped her from putting that on her list every year anyway. It seemed like a lot of the things she asked for such as the fastest broomstick, a functioning pancreas, and a pet unicorn were simply things she could never have. Even so, Cordelia had been hard at work on the quidditch pitch all summer training for tryouts so she could hopefully make Gryffindor seeker again. There was going to be some stiff competition out there. Facing the competition against all odds was part of the fun, though. Cordelia loved the feeling of being the most important factor in the outcome of the match, the one who led the team to victory. Most of all she loved the thrill of the chase, the high speeds, the daring maneuvers, the excitement of not being bound to the earth by the laws of physics. It was her love of quidditch that drove her to be here in the quidditch supply shop, gazing upon her dream broomstick. Although she likely wouldn’t be getting that any time soon, there were still other supplies for quidditch she could get. A new pair of gloves, perhaps. Cordelia Grace Winklebleck was going to be fully prepared to outdo Carsyn and the others at tryouts. As much as she loved her friends and teammates, she was prepared to put up a fierce fight to keep her spot on the team. While Carsyn should responsibly be researching books that offered helpful guides on passing her OWLs, instead she found herself wandering over towards the Quidditch Shop. Which was weird because as the owner of a Comet 1080, the was nothing seriously wrong with her broom. It was relatively new and trusty and fast, but yet it wasn't ... A Jollyrocket or a Nimbus. It was also weird for her to be wondering about this when truth be told she wasn't even sure how much she cared for playing quidditch anymore. She hadn't properly played since two summers ago when she played for the under 14 league, since she opted to go traveling this summer for a month instead of trying out for the under 17 league and last summer, well, she wasn't really sure. It also seemed like every year at Hogwarts there seemed some obstacle standing in her way, whether it was a wrist sprain or lack of quidditch. But who was she kidding? Just ONCE she wanted the thrill of being Gryffindor Seeker, as her father was ..... many decades ago.
Then she saw her. Ugh. Not only did Cordelia Winklebleck steal her spot on the team two years ago, but how in the name of Hippogriffs did SHE get kissed before herself?? Like a proper kiss, not just goofing around. Without even realizing she did it, she scoffed loudly.
