Dasom Kim was only 17 years old when she gave birth to Jina. Not ready to be a mother, she gave her child up for adoption. Jina was soon adopted by Dan and Hanna Morin, a couple living in Quebec, Canada. She grew up happily, attended school and made friends. Then, the Morins were visited by a man who told them about the wizarding world and offered Jina a place at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She felt conflicted initially, because she loved studying at Muggle school and did not want to leave her friends. However, she ultimately accepted the invitation to learn magic.

At Ilvermorny, Jina was selected by Horned Serpent and Pukwudgie. She chose to join the house of Pukwudgie. She did well in her classes, excelling in Arithmancy and Potions. At the end of her fifth year, her parents told her that they will be moving to the United Kingdom. They wanted her to stay close to them and advised her to transfer to a wizarding school in Britain. Jina was again sad to leave her friends behind, but looked forward to making the move to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, having heard good things about the school.

Text Cut: Sixth Year, 2100 ~ 2101 (Term 54)

Having arrived in London in June 2100, Jina spent her summer holiday exploring the country that was her new home. After doing her school shopping at Diagon Alley, she also wandered the streets eating ice cream and buying pretty clothes. At Florean Fortescue’s, she met Carsyn Rose, who told her about the frightening events at Hogwarts (or more accurately, at Beauxbatons) the previous year. Jina began to feel more afraid about attending Hogwarts, despite Carsyn’s attempts to reassure her.

On September 1, Jina boarded the Hogwarts Express nervously for her first journey to Hogwarts. She occupied the same compartment as Eiji Rasting and Phoebe James. When she arrived at the castle, she was sorted into Ravenclaw. School began the next day and she attended classes, soon adapting to life at Hogwarts. She was shy initially, but slowly made some good friends, including Jillian Kim, Charlie Rivers and Lai Younian. She participated in the extra-curricular activities of Latin, Healers of Tomorrow and Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare and attended Apparition classes, with the goal of getting her license by the end of the year. She also took part in the Muggle Studies Long Term Assignment, where she had to take care of a fake baby doll “Billie” for a few months. Long story short … Jina decided that she will not have a child in the future.

All in all, Hogwarts was not as frightening as she first imagined, as the closest she was to danger was being attacked by a dummy in her first Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson. However, she soon found out about more serious happenings around the school. When an emergency assembly was announced to return the school founders back to their portraits, Jina joined Professor Recard’s team. Fortunately, the founders were successfully returned into their portraits!

Near the end of the school term, Jina returned to Ilvermorny for two weeks to take her JARVEY tests and see her friends. She also took her Apparition Test at Hogwarts, but failed because she completely missed the target location. She finished the term as 5th top Ravenclaw student, having earned 74 house points.

Although Jina is quiet, she has a strong passion for helping people. She willingly stands up for others who cannot fight for themselves. Having a creative and imaginative mind allows her to come up with methods to make people happier. She likes to befriend others and cares about her friends, though she needs some time alone every now and then to recharge. She knows that she needs to take care of herself as well as others, but often takes on too much and finds herself stressed. She is not good at facing conflict or receiving criticism and will try to evade these difficult situations, or argue back irrationally to maintain her dignity.
