Quick reflexes and a strong grip? Well, she'd have to attribute that to motherhood, and also grandmotherhood. Rajbir was something else, and by extension, so was his eldest daughter. Of course, Anita was a little more subdued, but it was really the grandchild who threatened to break all your breakables whose running around you tended to be fearful of.
"I'm sure," she said, eyes narrowed, but releasing his arm all the same. She certainly hoped it did not bruise. Would be quite ironic if Kaiser ended up having thin skin.
And, well, her subsequent meltdown after looking at the things around her was brought to a screeching halt by the fifteen-year-old with more presence of mind than she had. Right. Time to be the adult here.
Taking the boy's hand, she pushed herself off the telescope, wincing when she felt it give a little way and watched it with wide eyes, just in case it decided to tip over. Now. "Finite Incantatem," she said, wand springing out of her wrist holster. Very nifty contraption, though not quite her favourite place to keep a wand.

Anyway, now that the caterwauling charm had stopped shrieking, she could hear herself think once more. And thinking was important, because there was a lot of work to do.
"Repairing charms are only a temporary solution," she said, wrinkling her nose at the off-kelter telescope (and then turning towards the other telescopes, and then actually wincing). "Could one of you please head into my office and get us a ream of paper? I need to make an list of damages, and then make some calls to get a good estimate on how much this will cost to fix."
"Now. Let's see how much of this can be salvaged."
Maybe she'd start by securing the large telescope, because that was in a really worrying state. It was heavy, though, so she'd probably need some help. |
