She DID.
At the sight of the burning roses and the incensed headmistress, Kaiser let out a splutter which he very quickly tried to disguise as a coughing fit. But then he was trying so hard not to blatantly start laughing that it turned into a real coughing fit, and so Kaiser was out of action for about a minute.
Merlin. He couldn't. The roses. The precious roses had been annihilated, but mostly it was Desmarais' completely bizarre priorities that had destroyed Kaiser, not to mention de Nostredame's assurance that no harm would come to the plants right as harm had indeed arrived.
Coughing was happening, loud coughing at that. Then, finally, Kaiser recovered and looked up, eyes streaming, to see the Headmistress holding the first year by the collar, another first year with her wand drawn at the woman, and... a bunch of things.
Wiping his streaming eyes, Kaiser gave another weak cough or two and... just stayed put. Out of the way. Part of the furniture.
