Yeah, he probably should have been carrying on with trying to get the spell right, but Kaiser was having the time of his life bobbing his head and making the ringlet bounce around. But he stopped abruptly when Barlow spoke to him. Uh, right. Right. He nodded at the professor in the mirror. "Another try, yes." Good plan, that man.
Kaiser didn't undo the transfiguration he'd already managed, mostly because any head start, even a single three inch ringlet, would really help him out. He stood for a moment just looking at his reflection, pointed his wand at his head in preparation, and closed his eyes.
At least now he could use that ringlet for reference. A whole head of them, that's what he needed. A whole head of them all the way down to the floor. He could do that.
"Crinis Muto!" He tapped the tip of his wand to his head, and waited to feel his hair flowing down his back and shoulders. Still nothing like that, but he did feel a sort of tingling, rustling on his scalp. Bracing himself, Kaiser opened his eyes.
Sweet mother of Merlin. He had a full head of fire engine red ringlets alright, all of them three inches long and sticking out in every direction. Except the one he'd managed to produce last time, which was now six inches long and flopping over like a sad antenna.
Well, he was most of the way there. Kaiser supposed he may as well try one more time to get the right length. As Barlow had said, he was going to look funny either way.
