Lovely™ | Captain Hurted | Ariana's Bane | Resident Antagonist | Unparalleled Delight No, nothing too reckless indeed. Jake liked to think he had left that particular trait behind him... or at least didn't let it appear when he was working. For the most part. One could argue that it was sometimes a benefit to have a certain degree of recklessness when working out in the field as Magical Law Enforcement, but too much and you'd find yourself in trouble.
He nodded in response to Alexa's initial instructions to show he had heard and was taking her words into account, though Jake liked to believe he'd have done all of that anyway. He definitely had the wand part covered.
More and more people arrived, but Jake stood still and quiet, intently observing the mist in the middle distance and wondering if maybe it was now particularly concentrated in one specific area for whatever reason. He supposed he could have greeted the arrivals he knew instead, but even Jake could see that this was not the time for socialising.
Soon it was time, and he followed Alexa onto the grounds to begin approaching the mist. He tried to bear in mind what he'd said to Becca earlier, that whole thing about promising not to die today and leaving her a widow, and a mother of nine to boot.
He cast a sideways glance towards his boss at her question. It wasn't one he had much (read: any) intel on. "Haven't the-..." Foggiest. Jake silently thanked his brain for engaging and his mouth for slamming shut before that one slipped out. It wouldn't have been an intentional joke, if he had voiced it, but stuff like that upset folk whether it was intentional or not. He quickly backtracked and tried again. "I'm not sure..." Jake looked around at the others to see if any of them were more in the know than he was, the heads of the other two departments in particular.
