With her double scoop chocolate ice cream in one hand, her other hand was free to chew on. The skin around her nails were ragged and red but by now it was just a habit. Picking her toppings was proving to be more complicated than it needed to be. Because it was just toppings. The other things she had going on were way way worse, which didn't leave much brain room for thinking about something as simple as toppings. But she still had no idea what to pick.
She sighed, then started her gaze back to the front of the line, working her way across. Which one to pick? Which combinations would be good? She didn't want to ruin her chocolate ice cream with a bad topping.
