It was hard to pretend the mess didn't bother him, but Drewett's face showed it all. He walked past it, pretending it was no big deal (except it was), and slumped his backpack on his bed. He was aware that Rory's statement wasn't one that meant harm, but there was just something about the mist—yes, the italicized mist—that made him tense a little. "Hope you meant a less t-terrifying one," he said. "In that case, I agree." Because he didn't want to be anywhere near that mist. And their dormitory could use a bit of cleaning too.

"Yeah. Starting t-to get crowded there," the boy replied. To him, that meant students were either just starting on their exam prep...or that they could no longer find a place to beat their boredom. Quite unfortunate for those who wanted to actually study. "How's your studying going so far?"
