Simran was tired. Truly, truly tired. And watching all this infighting was just making her head ache. Oh, if only they were her children and she could punish them both. And oh, the poor children.

"We don't have enough working brooms for the whole student population, dear, and it's best to remember not just the statute of secrecy, but also that not everyone can fly," she said, quiet but authoritative. No sense being loud now and worsening her migraine. "It is a form of magic like any other, and highly individual in terms of skill."

"I see no reason why the Ministry wouldn't come to our help -- it's a question of how, with so many of us."

As for O'Hara, Simran felt increasingly small, especially at the tone and the timing, and her usually impeccable posture was getting more and more difficult to keep straight when all she wanted to do was curl up with her great-granddaughter and know that she was safe. As teachers, it was their job to be the stability the students could count on, no matter what seemed to be hurled at them. She settled for giving O'Hara a stern look for the fearmongering, before the young McCarthy girl caught her eye.

Stern Teacher Face out the window, now it was Concerned Grandmama Simran who tried to catch the girl's eye and offer her a reassuring smile. "Everything that can be done is being done, but we have to keep all of you safe as well."

And themselves, especially knowing she wasn't equipped to handle the Mist. She only knew how to teach, how to get her children through school, how to give them a cup of calming tea and promise that everything would be okay.
