May it STAY that way.[…] Hearing his name, Conley wished the young ladies luck bowling and excused himself from Mai and Louise. As he turned, he noticed the Minister giving him the eye. He gave the man a big smile and a hearty wave, while inside his heart thumped perhaps just a little too nervously. Perhaps it was a good thing that Conley had come to this function alone.
He had been a bit surprised to be summoned by Airey as they did not have much reason to spend time together. Conley assumed that part of the summons was due to the fact that they were both wearing the red bowling shirts.. ”Greetings,” Conley said as he approached. Airey appeared to be a rather popular person. There were quite a few people hanging around this set of lanes.
Conley sat down. Was it his imagination or did something smell like disinfectant? His eyes were drawn to the man standing nearby with his arms out as if he was giving a blessing. Right – now he remembered Airey was a bit of a … germaphobe – or so he had been warned when he started at the ministry. ”Bowl much?” Conley asked when Airey was done greeting people. He expected the answer to be ‘no’ as he could not see the DOM head willingly stick his fingers into balls or get a bit of oil residue on him from the lanes. . In fact, Conley was suddenly a wee bit worried that Airy would spend most of the day disinfecting the shrunken heads.
Slipping off his canvas oxfords he tucked them under the bench and slipped into his personal bowling shoes. Yep, he was rather glad he had stopped home for them because looking around at some of his coworker’s feet, the alley shoes looked a bit dodgy, not to mention uncomfortable.

No worries though, she was there for one person not a crowd. She liked a crowd though, so of course, she had to look down to make sure she was dressed accordingly... No, no this wasn't how she wanted to be now. She had a nice outfit on, but one that went well with bowling and she didn't care if anyone looked at her.
Her eyes scanning the area, she saw him in front of her and headed that way. "Adam" getting his attention so she wouldn't scare him as she let her hand rest on his arm, "You weren't waiting long were you?" She had hoped he wasn't at least. "It is really busy in here tonight, the ministry has a lot of employees." She knew it was big, but having all in one building became overly aware of how big. Adam’s head swiveled towards the sound of his name. As she moved close, he could smell the faint scent of something vaguely familiar - perhaps a hair product or perfume, he wasn’t quite sure what it was. He smiled as he felt her hand rest on his forearm. ”Nien,” he said answering her question. ”Not long,” he placed his hand over hers, giving it a welcoming squeeze. ”I’m glad vou could come.”
He was just about to address her comment about how many people were here when – Text Cut: MinisterHollingberry Quote:

Well over a decade now, hadn't it been? Charles would need to consult the paperwork there. And then he was joined by a charming young woman. "Oh Adam! Lovely of you to bring your daughter to the function," he smiled BROADLY. He hadn't even known that Adam had married! This was a problem that did occasionally arise with Unspeakable records but no matter. "What color will it be then?" he asked as his hands waved over the t-shirt options. [..] Adam turned a deep deep red that spread from his cheeks to the tips of his ears. How did one even respond to that?! He didn’t look that old did he? Sure he’d had a couple of rough years, what with the star explosion and then the Encephalons take-over, but really? Maybe he did look that bad, but it wasn't exactly like he could pull out a pocket mirror and check now could he?
Then another thought occurred to him. Maybe Zita just looked that young? He knew she was quite a bit younger than him, but he hadn’t thought that really mattered. He just hoped Zita wouldn’t take offense and run off, never to speak to him again.
If their first date had gone well, their second – whatever this was - wasn’t looking to good at the moment. Perhaps it had been a mistake to ask her to come.
He took a moment to fold up his support cane and tuck it into his back pocket by his raspberry wood wand. It gave him a chance to compose himself before saying something he might regret later. If he hadn’t flushed, he might have pretended to not understand what the minister was saying. Sometimes it was handy to be an ESL person. Alas, the heat in his cheeks warned him that wasn’t an option. ”Not mein daughter,” he said simply trying to put on a smile and keep his voice friendly. No use in insulting the boss, even if said boss had been a bit presumptuous. ”Minister, zhis is mein friend Sita.”
As for what shirts they wanted, well, he couldn’t exactly see the color options. He turned towards Zita. ”Vou pick.”
