She paused outside the door and put a big smile on her face before entering the room. "Good morning Professor Barlow!" She chimed in the most sing songy voice she could manage. She quickly grabbed a seat closest to the front as she did in every class. He would’ve liked another precious few quiet minutes to himself but the first of the bunch were starting to arrive. He was still barely awake but apparently, it was officially time to get this show on the road. And speaking of barely awake…
It looked like this kid had just rolled out of bed too. Unless that sticky up hair he spied was some sort of new trend, you never could tell these days. Oh well. Who was he to judge? “Morning Cassidy!” SPOILER!!: indigo Quote:

It seemed he was a bit early, as there weren't many other students there yet. He glanced briefly at the small girl who was already sitting down but seeing as he didn't know her he did not pay her any further attention. Instead, he moved toward the middle of the room off to the left side. Indigo took a seat and began quietly readying his things before the start of the lesson. Still perched on his desk, Barlow sent a nod in the quiet Ravenclaw’s direction. “Salutations, Mr Rousseau. Hope you’re well.” SPOILER!!: eniola Quote:

Her attempts to scurry in unnoticed were almost successful. Almost. Sure, he was kind of busy trying to stifle a rather impressive yawn, but he still noticed the Hufflepuff girl. “M - M ---” YAAAAAAAWN. “Morning Eniola.” SPOILER!!: analiese Quote:

The 12-year-old took her textbook and other equipment out and nearly arranged them in front of her.
Analiese opened her textbook and began reading. She shivered slightly as a cold breeze came through the ajar window next to her. She quickly shut it. That was better. She yawned quietly as she closed her textbook and waited for class to start. Why was it even customary to say good morning? What if it wasn’t a good morning? Do you know what would be a good morning? It’d be a good morning if he were still tucked up in his chambers… He really needed to find out if it was possible to reschedule these early classes.
Anyway. “Good thinking, you wouldn’t want to catch a chill,” he commented when Analiese took it upon herself to close the window. Except that slight breeze had probably the only thing keeping him awake right now. SPOILER!!: avalon Quote:

And by the looks of it, Professor Barlow wasn't too happy to be up at this hour either. "Hello, Professor," she said as she took a seat next to a fellow Ravenclaw, Analiese. "And hi, Analiese!" Barlow hopped off the desk and started doing some stretches. Just some light stretches, nothing too intense. Y’know, a little lunge or two to wake up the joints. “Welcome, welcome. Come on in, take a seat.” He was too busy stretching to look up and see who he was greeting. SPOILER!!: daisy Quote:

He looked around, searching for any indication on what today's lesson would be about and was dissapointed when he could find none. Just a normal classroom set up. Theory lesson perhaps? He didn't mind that though. Actually he preferred it. "Good morning, Professor Barlow" he greeted with a polite nod of his head before he turned to find a seat at the front.
He draped his scarf on the back of the chair and placed his bag on his lap. He pulled out his textbook, notebook and writing material before placing his bag under his desk and began giving each object a perfect place on the desk. Once that was done he smiled to himself and leaned back in his chair with his arms folded. Right ear to right shoulder. Aaaand his neck definitely emitted a rather loud, audible crack. But…. WOW, did he feel better. Oh yeah, the students. “How goes it, Mr Katharos?” SPOILER!!: archer Quote:

What? In her rush to get to class, she hadn't had time to fix her hair or make-up and a ponytail, lip gloss and mascara wand could only do so much. So yes, it was best to just hide in the back. And here was another one that looked like she’d woke up five minutes ago. “Neck stretches,” he suggested nonchalantly. “They work wonders.” SPOILER!!: missa Quote:

Practicing a warming spell under her breath, the fourteen year made her way into the Transfiguration class, and easily passed the professor a smile. "Morning, professor," she greeted him, before finding herself a seat. He was slowly, SLOWLY, starting to perk up a little. No doubt helped by the coffee he was still taking the occasional swig from. Missa received a smile and a little wave in return. “Welcome to class, Miss Renaldi. Settle in it’s going to be a good one.” Or so he thought, anyway. SPOILER!!: cordelia Quote:

Last night had been one of those nights of interrupted sleep and generally feeling awful due to high blood sugar that just wouldn’t go down. ”Uuuuugh,” Cordelia groaned in an attempt to greet the professor as she passed by him. Her hair was sticking up all over the place and she could feel the dark circles beneath her eyes. Blinking as she tried to stay awake, Cordelia took a seat. What class was this? She glanced around the room in search for clues that would jog her memory. Ah yes, transfiguration. The bleary eyed girl fumbled around in her bag for her parchment and quills to take notes. Finding them, she placed her note taking supplies on her desk. In preparation for the lesson she wrote Transfiguration on the top of her paper, although the word came out rather illegible as after the initial “T” her handwriting gradually devolved into meaningless scribbles. Yep, totally ready for this lesson. ……….and there he was thinking HE was terrible with mornings.
Cordelia Winklebleck had just stolen the crown ladies and gentleman.
Any other professor may have chastised the youngster but honestly, Mitchell felt her pain. Still, as much as he wouldn’t mind, he couldn’t exactly let a kid snooze in his lesson. What if Trent decided on an impromptu inspection? “We’ve got a fun activity planned, Cordelia, you’re gonna want to try and keep your eyes open for it so you don’t go missing out.” SPOILER!!: rylee Quote:

It was all in a mornings work for the fifth year and there was the ever present smile on her face as she entered the room. "Good morning, Professor," Rylee greeted the man warmly as she took her usual seat towards the middle of the room. Allowing her bag to slip from her shoulder and onto her lap so she could pull out the necessary items that would be needed for the lesson, laying them neatly on her desk. Once that had been done, she laid her bag beneath her chair out of the way. “G’morning, Rylee.” Seemed this Gryffindor was the complete opposite of the last one and while he was grateful there were a few early birds and he didn’t have to deal with a class of zombie teenagers… well, people who were this happy first thing in the morning made him ever so slightly suspicious. SPOILER!!: vivienne Quote:

Vivienne walked over and sat with her. Kayla took out her wand, textbooks, and parchment. Then she waited for class to start. No good morning from Vivienne? No matter. After another swig of his coffee, Barlow sent a nod and a wave her way. He got it. He wasn’t exactly talkative first thing either but y’know, this was his job so he kind of had to make an effort. SPOILER!!: nina Quote:
Originally Posted by ArianaBlack Had Nina Castillo been wearing her contacts, as per usual, she would have had plenty of opinions on Professor Barlow's choice look for the morning. Disheveled. Messy. Unorganized. Three words one did not want to associate with their educators. Clearly their Professor knew nothing about dressing for the part. It was quite sad, to be honest. One would expect more of him. Honestly, had Nina been able to see the detailed crinkles of his robes, she would have instantly (albeit, nonchalantly-- as she still knew to respect authority) scoffed. Fortunately for her Professor (and perhaps for Nina, herself), the young Slytherin could not make out the finite details of the man's crumpled clothes.
And along a similar vein, she couldn't exactly make out just how lopsided his hair looked today. It didn't exactly look great without her 100% eyesight, but... did it ever actually look nice when she did have her contacts in? Questionable. As was he. As a person. And as an educator.
Though Keenan's words had been reassuring the other day, Nina still REFUSED to wear her glasses in public (she also refused to wear them in the privacy of her dormitory, though this was perhaps even less surprising). And so, with rather blurry vision, the Slytherin managed to make her way into the classroom. She followed the context clues her classmates left her with and quickly identified their Professor without even a bit of trouble. Her eyes weren't THAT bad. Yet. She gave him a polite, yet somewhat unimpressed look, a nod, and nothing more (as always) before making her way towards the rows of desks. Immediately she passed by the first few rows, knowing very well that she was sacrificing her ability to clearly read the board and see any demonstrations. But she would much rather attempt to decipher blurry letters than to look like an over-achiever, Professor's pet. No. She refused.
Instead, she found herself a seat in one of the middle rows (being in the back would risk ending up next to lowlifes, that wasn't worth the risk either). Next to Indigo. Which she didn't exactly know until she got close enough. He received a smile eventually though.
He was, of course, completely oblivious to the scrutiny Nina was sending his way. In fact, he was still oblivious that some of the potato sack sporting house elves were probably better dressed than him right now. “Miss Castillo,” he greeted, nodding that head of unkempt hair in her direction. He didn’t exactly believe in miracles but maybe, HOPEFULLY, the subject of this morning’s lesson would see the Slytherin lighten up just a little bit. SPOILER!!: lucas Quote:

All he knew was that he was counting down the days until the holidays, even if it meant he was spending the holidays with large numbers of people family members.
Yawning, Lucas walked into the room and was immediately hit with a wave of heating charms that caused him to blink several times. This was nice, wasn't it? Could they do the same for the corridors? And the Astronomy tower? And the castle in general? Please? He wouldn't be the one to ask but, you know, someone could. "Hello, Professor," he said, giving him a slightly amused smile as he walked past him and towards a spare seat. He couldn't help but admire the man's hair which, sure, looked messy, but it reminded him of his own. Did it go bigger and bigger in humid weather? Was it normally uncontrollable?
Lucas wanted to know. Had the young Gryffindor openly inquired about his hair, Barlow would’ve happily offered him all the answers. Maybe another time. Mitchell offered the boy a salute and a smile instead. “Greetings young Lucas!” SPOILER!!: stasya Quote:

Transfiguration wasn’t any differen6t, and she’d turned into eh classroom with a bright smile. “Good morning Professor Barlow!,” she called out, making her way to an open seat and settling in.
Plus, her Gryffindors all got little waves, even as she’d gotten her things situated for the lesson. One never knew what to expect, so it paid to be prepared. “And greetings to you too, Miss….” He couldn’t remember her surname. It was a rather long one though, wasn’t it? Uhhh. Nope, no idea. “.... Miss Stasya.” That ought to do it. He left the door open just in case any last stragglers late from breakfast decided to show their faces and join in, but Barlow was ready. Actually…. hold that thought. He quickly downed the remainder of his coffee and went about stretching his neck just a little bit more. First one way, then the other. Okay, now he was ready. “I know it’s early, it’s chilly and we’ve only got a few weeks left till the holidays and half of you are probably wishing you were anywhere but here right now,” he started, setting his flask aside and addressing the class. “But hopefully what we’ve got planned today will be enough to keep you awake.” Him included.
He had a feeling he was going to lose the majority of them to daydreams and distractions if he kicked things off with a long, drawn out lecture and that really wasn’t his style anyway so....
After a quick glance around to check that he had their attention, with a dramatic flourish and some expert sleight of hand, Barlow produced from his very own ear a single, shiny galleon. “Do you know what that was?” It was a question he didn’t give any of them a chance to answer. “MAGIC.” Yes, he was impressive. Yes, they could applaud if they wanted. “Before we kick things off properly, what I want to know is, what do you lot know about muggle magic? Do you know any famous or well known tricks?” OOC: Thanks for joining, guys! Class is officially underway so remember any IC lateness will result in IC repercussions. You’ve got about 24 hours for question 1!
