Avalon's hand was outstretched, perfectly poised to catch the snitch, when a hard blow from her right caused her to tumble out of reach. She flipped over once in the air, falling downward, before she was able to tighten her grip and regain her balance. Pushing her hair out of her face and staring back upward at where she had been, she saw that the other girl had caught the snitch. As soon as she had caught it, though, it had left her hands. This snitch wasn't wasting any time.
She stabilized her broom and squinted, hoping to see where the snitch flew off to. But she saw nothing. Suddenly, she noticed two other players racing toward the opposite end of the pitch, both of them with their arms outstretched. They must have spotted it! Avalon was hesitant about getting caught in another tumble, though. But this was Quidditch. She had to go after it.
Perhaps she could fly above the other two players and sneak in from above? No, that could be too dangerous. If one of them made a sudden jerk upward, there would undoubtedly be a collision. Avalon didn't want to be the cause of any broken bones at tryouts. But coming in from the side - that was definitely an option. That way, both of the players would be able to see her before any accidents.
Avalon took a deep breath before flying off in the direction of the snitch again. She kept a healthy distance away from the other two - flying parallel to the them - as she watched the snitch's movements carefully. It wasn't going anywhere, though. She had to get closer to it. She maneuvered herself to be in line with the other two seekers and stretched out her hand in pursuit of that little gold ball, stabilizing herself by leaning forward on her broom. She kept a close ear out for the approach of any potential dummies - the last thing she wanted was to be knocked out of the air again.
