Arithmik melons????
Ellie had most definitely heard wrong. She giggled quietly to herself as she listened more closely to what professor Sissay was saying. It was Arithmetology it was called that they were working with. Not something with melons. Why had her mind drifted to melons anyway? Juicy watermelons we’re delicious though.
Focusing Ellie went up to the table and got herself a tiny elephant to practice the new spell on. She had first been set on taking the broken clock but had changed her mind last minute. Returning to her desk she put the elephant down before she pulled out her wand. Wand in hand she started to practice saying the incantation out loud to herself first, several times in a row. "Emfanizou Arithmou, Emfanizou Arithmou, Emfanizou Arithmou, Emfanizou Arithmou!" And then another 5 times or so until she felt almost certain that she wouldn’t be missing any letter. She didn’t want to end up breaking her elephant like she had done with her mum’s flower pot when she had been 6 years old trying the levitation charm for the very first time and it had crashed on her twin brother’s head.
Gripping her wand she aimed it at her tiny elephant and said with little conviction "Emfanizou Arithmou!" as Ellie preformed the slow clockwise motion. Some smoke rose from her tip but it quickly dissolved. "Drats!" she muttered to herself she hadn’t said it too firmly maybe? Trying again she repeated loudly and firmly, eyes set on the elephant "Emfanizou Arithmou!" as she performed the slow clockwise motion. Grey smoke slowly flowed out of the tip of her wand forming into seven readable numbers 2 3 9 7 4 8 8. Knowing that the numbers would dissolve into thin air Ellie quick as a fox wrote down the numbers on her parchment. She had succeeded!
