As the students began to stream onto the pitch, Colin couldn't help but smile at the hopefuls. A fair amount had shown up thus far, which was rather promising. Plus he had to give those already standing before him some kudos, taking into consideration that those wanting a shot at being a Beater for their House team had to tryout bright and early in the morning on a Saturday.

Being the man that he was, MacKenzie wanted to get right along with the tryout session. But, of course, there were greetings and formalities that had to be taken care of first.

The arrivals of Abara, Montague, and McCarthy all received nods of acknowledgement and welcoming. Prichard and Thomas received the same, as well as a pleasant 'good morning' in return (he was never going to get used to being called 'professor' however). When Roberts made an appearance, a polite nod was given. He could sense the excitement, which was a promising sight. The last thing he wanted to see was someone losing their breakfast.

"Alright, ev'ryone," the Flying instructor said, clasping his hands together. "We're goin' to get started with the tryout process. As ye can see, yer Captains are here and will be makin' some observations. They'll be the ones decidin' yer fate, so be sure to give it yer all over the next hour."

"Yer tryout is fairly simple," he continued on. "These dummies here as well as a couple o' Bludgers will soon be joinin' ye in the air in just a few moments. Yer primary job is to keep the Bludgers that'll be flying around from knockin' ye off yer broom. But ye also need to aim the Bludgers at the dummies and see how many ye can hit before the tryout ends."

A bit of a pause followed, providing the opportunity for any questions. Colin didn't really anticipate any, but he did have to mentally remind himself that he was working with children. Only Merlin knew what thoughts fluttered about through those minds.

"Take a moment to do any last-minute stretching, and then it's up in the air with the lot of ye."

OOC: Hello, Beater candidates! Welcome to your tryout session, and thank you for joining us! Colin and I are so pleased that you are here. For those of you who are interested in tryout out but have yet to post, feel free to join us at your earliest convenience. Don't forget to fill out the Quidditch Tryout form. This does need to be completed before tryouts end on May 18th in order to be considered for the House Quidditch team.

For the Beater tryouts, your character will need to 1) avoid getting hit by any roaming Bludgers and 2) aim the Bludgers at the dummies. Throughout the tryout, you will be interacting with each other as well as The Narrator account. The Narrator will inform you if a Bludger is heading your way, if a dummy is nearby, and the outcome of your character's efforts. This is all very open-ended, so let's have some fun with this! ^___^
