The room’s lack of color and the fact that it apparently muffled sound kinda put Sammy on edge. Not to mention too many people in the room were perky. What did Sammy have against perky people? He still didn't know anyone, well besides Eleanor and she was on the other side of the room. Sammy was purposefully attempting to stay away from her so she couldn't accused him of giving her bruises the next time she tripped over her own feet.

He slowly raised his hand to answer the question. He had already gone through some DADA theory at Koldovstoretz and thought he knew what the professor was looking for. Normally, he wouldn’t have answered, but some of his classmates’ answers were rather…silly. ”It’s important in dueling,” he answered when the professor looked his way. ”Some people can perform spells without speaking. It keeps your opponent on guard because they have no way to know what you’re going to use or do next.”
