Hogwarts RPG Name: Dolly Dopple Graduated | Sorry for the delay! The afterlife glitched. Text Cut: student replies Quote:

Would she be able to hear better now that she was a ghost?
Finally walking fully into the room Chloe looked around and stopping in front of the cat, "Ma'am, now that you are a ghost, who is going to take care of your cat?" It was a real cat wasn't it or had it died a while again and the professor had it stuffed? Maybe if it was dead the ghost form could come out and join her so they could be together in their afterlife.
Looking at the cat a little longer Chloe went to find her seat and get ready for the lesson. When the first students arrived in class, Dolly was as chipper as ever. She waved her wrinkly hand at the first student, but she could tell that she was a little put off. But she was surprised to find that her concerns were about the kneazle! How nice of her! ”Oh, she’s a very good mouser,” Dolly replied with an affectionate look towards Lisa, the kneazle. ”She’ll be just fine. She always finds enough to eat.” It was VERY nice of her to consider her. Quote:

"Good day, Professor. Do you think I might... right on the board for you today? I'm very corporeal at the moment." And hairy. Don't forget hairy. Dolly had come to the realization and acceptance that she was in fact DEAD. But really, it hadn’t proved to be much too different than being alive, so not much had changed!
When the head girl arrived, Dolly gave her a bright smile. ”Oh, how very considerate of you! Yes, would you please?” The only downside about being dead was that you couldn’t touch anything anymore! It was more strange than inconvenient, though. Quote:

Dopple was a GHOST. Not only that, she'd been eaten by the little pink creatures that Nettie had adored. They'd turned out to be evil, murderous monsters, and the whole thing just irked her to no end.
AND HER HAIR WAS STILL GROWING.
Things were not going well for Nettie, and even though she tried to smile at the ghost of Dopple as she walked in...nope. Couldn't do it. She could barely look at her. No no no no no no.
She was going to have a panic attack. She was gonna lose it. LOSE. IT. The Charms Professor could tell that this young lady was a little put off as well, presumably about her... deadness. But she didn’t want to make it worse, so she just gave her a nice smile and moved on. Though she did wonder what this new FUR trend was about. Quote:

It bothered her more than she’d thought, even if she still disagreed with the drastic measures Professor O’Hara had suggested back in the courtyard. She was struggling to give the creature that could have wrought this much havoc the benefit of the doubt, and the fact it was pink was even worse. Either way, the last thing she had expected was to find that Charms lessons hadn’t been canceled for the rest of term, unless the headmaster had brought in a substitute. Some subjects seemed to be a lot easier for a ghost to teach, and she was well aware of the history of the school. Most ghost professors had taught things like History of Magic. Subjects that didn’t necessarily require physical demonstrations, which she thought would be hard for a ghost.
She was pretty sure Professor Dopple wasn’t like Peeves, anyhow. Which put her back to the idea that maybe there’d be a new professor at the front of the classroom, proven wrong as soon as she’d stepped through the doors only to find the familiar but translucent figure of their former Charms professor still standing there, or floating. The mechanics still confused her a little. “Hello Professor Dopple. Will you need help demonstrating any Charms during the lesson?” She was fully prepared to help if necessary. She’d gotten fairly passable at the subject under the teaching of Professor Marchand, at least. The next student entered the room and Dolly gave her a smile as well. See, not everyone was bothered by the DEAD. And it wasn’t like she was a floating corpse or anything. Just a ghost! Oh, and she was helpful, too! How nice. ”I just might, my dear! I shall call on you later.” She couldn’t do magic anymore, which would prove to be quite... inconvenient in a charms class. Quote:

Once again making it look as though the Head Boy had attempted to transfigure himself into a cat or a lion and failed miserably. Not to mention the peculiar way in which he was not just holding his textbook as he entered...but GNAWING on the corner of it.
He, well, he felt some sort of way about Professor Dopple being a ghost...but mum had told him about similar instance happening with an Astronomy professor who had been eaten by a plant. Sooooo...historically speaking, this sort of thing DID happen. Also, Derf still felt bad for the creatures who must be pretty scared and stressed with everything. At least, well, at least the Charms professor seemed content enough?
"Good day, professor," he smiled warmly at the woman, pleased that she was...well...still capable of teaching and helping him with advanced studies and all. "Like Chloe and Stasya also offered...if there is anything you need help with I reckon you can also ask me." She knew he was pretty capable and stuff.
And then he moved to take a seat next to Chloe Kettleburn, partner in...things, swiping some of his obscenely long blonde hair out of his face. "....reckon you can braid this for me a bit so it is out of the way?" You know, it could have been WORSE. That’s what Dolly thought.
She gave the head boy an equally warm smile when he entered. Again, with the fur! How interesting! ”Oh, sweet boy, you are so kind! I’ll let you know if I need help.” And she would, or else the class would come to a rather quick end. Quote:

Really, the young Ravenclaw wanted Professor Dopple to pass into the other life, whatever that was, and be at peace. With... her family? Friends? Other people she had once loved and lost?
Entering the classroom, even though she had seen Professor Dopple in her ghost form - it was still startling. "Hello Professor Dopple," Hanna said, trying to plaster a happy smile on her face. Another lovely student entered and Dolly gave her a big, warm, welcoming smile. ”Hello my dear, welcome to class.” Was she ready to LEARN??? Quote:

She then sat down at a desk. ”Oh, you are all so kind!” Dolly exclaimed when another student entered and offered their help. ”Thank you my dear,” she finished with a big ol’ wrinkly smile. Quote:

It was like their memories had been erased by her death. No thanks Patrick was glad he may not sweat to death. Taking his seat and looking around he got his notebook ready and minded his own business. There was another shy one, she noticed. But that didn’t bother her. Not too many students wanted to be friends with ghosts, after all. Regardless, she gave him a little wrinkly-finger wave as he sat down. Quote:

The woman's ghostly form was a bad reminder for her - and not just a reminder of what the fluffy pink monsters running amok in the school could do! She was a bad reminder of Tina's unkindness. She had been awful to Professor Dopple while she was alive… not so much to her face. She wasn't dumb enough to outright insult a professor, but she'd been mean in other ways… constantly snarking to herself and comparing Dopple to M. Marchand, showing off her charms talents at every opportunity to show what she'd learned from a “real” charms expert, not to mention the purple butterfly she wore in some form to every charms class as an act of protest. She still had the purple butterfly, this time worn as a hair clip, but the meaning behind it had changed. And it wasn't alone. Today there was a white butterfly in her hair with the purple one.
Tina was going to make an effort to be kinder to Professor Dopple. She managed a small smile for the ghostly professor - not much of one, but it was more of a smile than she'd given the woman all term. “Hello, Professor Dopple,” she greeted politely, sparing only a passing glance. It made her too sad to look at the professor for long! The thought crossed Tina's mind to offer help, but seeing as a lot of her classmates had already done that, she wondered if it was necessary. She supposed it couldn't hurt. “If… uh, you need help with anything, let me know,” she added.
Without another word, she took her usual seat at the back of the room and waited for the lesson to begin. Her dart eyes darted around the room, searching for something to distract her from her feelings, and landed on the obviously dead cat on the desk. That cat just gave her an idea! But it would have to wait for now... she had a charms lesson to get through first. Another student entered, and while Dolly couldn’t read her thoughts or understand her expression (she was fairly oblivious anyway, remember?), she gave the girl a nice smile as she greeted her and offered her help. ”Thank you very much, I’ll do just that.” Quote:
Originally Posted by littledhampir Indigo had been quite interested when he found out that Charms lessons were still being held. He thought that might not have been the case considering... Well, considering their Charms professor was not less than alive. But he supposed that just because she was a ghost now didn't mean that she couldn't still teach. And she seemed to be handling the whole dying thing pretty well. "Hello professor," he said as he entered the classroom. Instead of moving to his seat, he paused by the door for a second. He was going to ask if being a ghost felt different than being alive. He thought she might be able to answer it pretty accurately considering it had happened to recently. But then he decided against it and moved silently to take a seat. Less than alive, but still kicking! Dolly always prided herself in her youthful energy, and that was no different now that she was dead! In fact, she almost felt even BETTER because she couldn’t feel the arthritis in her hips, hands, feet, shoulders and spine anymore! ”Hello, dear!” she called out chipperly. Quote:

Surprisingly enough, Cordelia was still rather emotionally numb on the subject of the Professor’s death. Cordelia stared at the cat or kneazle or whatever it was as she walked in. It was almost certainly dead now that Dopple could no longer feed it. Experimentally, Cordelia reached out and poked the cat to see if it would move or otherwise show any sign of life. ”Hello, Professor. How’s the afterlife treating you?” Could cats become ghosts too? Because Cordelia was half expecting to see a translucent copy of the cat rise from its body and join Dopple. Hopefully the professor wouldn’t be able to turn up the heat in here today considering her, er, condition. When Dolly had signed up for the position of Charms Professor, she knew the commitment! And she wasn’t about to break that commitment just because she had DIED. Oh, no. That was just silly. And finally, someone asked her how it was now that she was dead. ”Oh, it’s quite nice! I feel better than ever!” And she got so much more DONE now that she didn’t have to sleep! Quote:

The woman was old and a bit lacking in the observational skills department, but surely she wouldn't have been hired if she wasn't good at her craft.. Hello Professor. Happy to see you didn't let anything stop you from holding class. That's the spiri-" ...The brunette went pink, realizing what she'd said. Was that okay to say when speaking with a ghost??? She decided to just make a quick exit in case it was rude and took up a spot by Indigo. That’s.
The.
Spirit. ”Oh!” Dolly exclaimed, covering her mouth for a moment.
And then she burst into a fit of giggles. ”That’s the spirit! OOOOHHOOHOHO! How CLEVER!” Really! Quite hilarious! How PUNNY.
After recovering from her fit of giggles, Dolly clapped her hands together... and then realized that they no longer made noise... Oh, dear. How strange. Just another thing to get used to! ”HE-HEM. Hello, class!” She called out loud(ish) and clear. ”Thank you all for coming to class today! I see a few of our friends are missing... I do hope it wasn’t those creatures.” Perhaps she should have kept that thought to herself. Err, anyway... ”I must say, it is wonderful to see you all! I see some of you are sporting a new fashion trend, eh? The fur! Oh, it’s so FETCH, isn’t it?!” Young people and their strange fashion trends! It was so fascinating to see. At first she thought maybe just the Head Boy and Girl had just done it to be silly, but no, there were quite a few students sporting full coats of fur. How fun!
Dolly clapped her hands together again (force of habit) and floated a little closer to her students. ”Alright, I won’t tell you what we’ll be learning today just yet, but I want to start with a question to get your brains churning. But don’t worry! It’s not too hard!”
She then remembered that the head girl had offered to write things on the board for her. ”Oh! Miss Kettlebark, could you write this question on the board please? Tell me, what is something that you wish you could change about your physical appearance? Got a big nose? Some bushy eyebrows? A little mole on your chin? Do tell!” She was curious to know. OOC: Class has officially begun! As you can see, Dolly is dead, but isn't really bothered by it. Go ahead and have your character answer the question above! Class will move on in about 30 hours so I can get back onto my original time schedule. That'll be about 7pm (GMT-7) on Friday the 1st.
