What with the fact the portrait entrance to the kitchens still hadn’t reappeared, there was exactly one location one could have found Stas in whenever she had a free moment. Especially since things had advanced to the point of Ambrosia disappearing, the tall blonde prefect had been spending a lot more time out at the barns. More than usual, even, but she’d wanted to let the creatures, the remaining winged horses especially, know that they had more than just Professor Wayland (and Derf and Chloe to name a few others) on their side. She’d been out in the paddocks with Claire, letting her run to her heart’s content, when the announcement had boomed out over the grounds and she’d dropped the lead rope.

Pink and furry? It sounded an awful lot like Headmaster Trent was blaming the problems this term on a pygmy puff, but she’d quickly brought the young Granian back to her stall with a promise that she’d be back later to finish their visit and hurried as fast as possible back up to the courtyard, arriving not long after Professors Darlington and O’Hara and slipping into a spot near Rylee. She’d never been so grateful for having long legs before now.

She wondered if Toddles and the incident(s) at the opening feast had anything to do with this, too. Not that she’d endanger one of the house elves without more than just a theory.
