If Moaning Myrtle wasn't willing to come up through the broken pipes and help, maybe some house elves would come? But how did one summon a house elf anyway?

Bel DID start throwing towels down to try and block the furniture off at least to save it from water damage. They'd only hold the water back from the couches and the wireless for so long though. Totally a temporary solution.
