Here he had only made a few acquaintances and a couple of mates in his own house who he saw occasionally. Everyone else had formed such strong bonds with one another that he found it hard to infiltrate into any friendship groups and often found himself sitting in the Common Room or wandering about alone in the grounds.

He was doing the latter today and had decided after a brief jog to take a seat on a bench that was halfway down a pathway near to the lake. The weather was obviously cold it being close to winter and he had a thick jacket on to keep him warm as he watched the world go by. Thankfully it wasn’t raining too or else his thinking session would be decidedly wetter. Not that he wasn’t used to this weather as it was very similar to what he experienced at home and he was often outside there a lot too helping his Ma out on the farm or showing his sisters the difference between the magical plants or playing a game of football with his friends in the local park.

The after-school curriculum was kinda boring at Hogwarts. He’d heard of a few clubs that you could join and he had decided not to join Quidditch for the fact that he considered himself not experienced enough to play but the fact that you couldn’t just leave the school and visit a local town was just so foreign to him. He missed home and he really didn’t think that he would much.

Sigh.
Fourth year was really turning out to be much more miserable than Gunnar thought it would be. And when thoughts turned towards those of the angsty variety, the nearly fifteen year old often did what he thought would help - run. Sure, some might say he was literally running from his problems, but it went a long way towards clearing his head, at least for the time being.

And as such, he found himself running today. Alone, though he had passed a lone figure during his run, the same person he thought he saw sitting on a bench once he was finished and was headed back towards the castle.

"Mind if I sit?" he asked as he approached, needing a bit of a rest and a drink of water after that workout. But he took a seat at the opposite end without really waiting for a response as it had been a courtesy ask. Not that he thought most people would mind anyway, and he pulled out his water bottle for a drink.
