Turning around he spotted the board in the middle of the clearing. He looked around and wondered if he should sit down or not. He decided to greet the new professor and wait for someone else to decide if he should sit or not. "Good Morning Professor Darlington." He moved off to the left side of the portable blackboard taking a spot up in the grass waiting for another student to arrive. The first of the bunch was arriving and Joyce simply raised one eyebrow at the Slytherin boy’s reaction to today’s classroom setup. She expected she was going to get a lot of that. “Good morning to you too, Mr. Dooley.” SPOILER!!: Abra! Quote:

... and stepped into... outside? A nice outside? Huh?
Pausing for a moment to look back over his shoulder the way he'd just come, Abra rubbed his head in confusion before stepping further into... wherever they were. Sure, this was Hogwarts, and this kind of thing was generally to be expected, but that didn't mean it wasn't totally disorienting sometimes.
Anyway... right, yes. "Good morning, Professor Darlington," Abra greeted the woman as he took up a space in the clearing and waited for the lesson to start. Transfiguration was definitely one of his better - if not his best - subjects, so he was ready ready ready.
As long as they weren't doing theory. And she expected right.
She watched as the Gryffindor Prefect glanced back over his shoulder before entering the room. Well, not the room. The clearing. Honestly, why were these children so surprised? “Mr. Botros.” The boy received a nod. SPOILER!!: Holly! Quote:

However, walking through the classroom door into the glorious ... outside... sunshine... made her blink and stop walking. Whaaat???? Pausing and looking around she gave Professor Darlington a smile as she waved. "Hi, Professor.... Uh, nice day." The young girl was confused - slightly... but it was transfiguration and this was Hogwarts... So truly, anything was possible. “Isn’t it just?” This one was a very smiley wavey one, wasn’t she? Joyce’s arms remained crossed but the girl did receive the smallest hint of a smile back. “Good day, Miss Tamesis.” SPOILER!!: Lucas! Quote:

But this?! This was....... new. He froze somewhere near the entrance and looked around slowly, a very, very confused look on his face. He was..... somewhere outside? And it was nice? In the middle of October?!
Huh. Maybe he could get used to this.
He walked further into the, uh, 'classroom' - and there was a blackboard here so that helped - and smiled over at the professor. "Morning, Professor Darlington." And he was just going to go and sit right oveeeeeer..... there. On a good patch of grass that he wanted to dip his feet into.
You know what would make this much better? If they had some FOOD. “Good morning to you too.” Another smiley one. It seemed the younger students were in higher spirits this morning. “You’ll want to stay on your feet for this lesson, Mr Dakest.” SPOILER!!: Juni! Quote:

Instead she was thankful for the distraction of having a class this morning. It was the middle of October and those would have to be done soon. Anyway she was thinking about all of this as she was walking through the door of the Transfiguration classroom. But what she was really walking into was the outside?
Well...
This should be an interesting lesson. Their seemed to never be a lack of that around here. ”Good Morning Professor Darlington.” As she passed the professor on her way to find a place to stand? Yes stand. No desk. She was kind of starting to get a flashback of last term wit the standing before lessons started. Just like Miss Primeaux had.
Joyce watched as the Ravenclaw Captain found a spot to stand and sent another nod in the girl’s direction. “I hope you’re well, Miss Primeaux.” SPOILER!!: Valencia! Quote:

"Hello Professor." she greeted making her way over. She took a quick inventory of what everyone else was doing. Were they sitting? Standing?
Standing. Yes. She would stand as well. Joyce watched in amusement as the small girl took stock of what the other students were doing before choosing to remain on her feet. Not that the amusement showed on her face though, her expression remained neutral. “Good morning, Miss Phillips.” SPOILER!!: Chloe! Quote:

Maybe later. For now, Chloe took up a spot near the floating blackboard, up close to the front of the so-called classroom. "Good day to you, Professor. It's nearly a perfect day you've created in here." Ah, and here was the Head Girl. And a Ravenclaw to boot. “Only nearly?” Joyce took a moment to study her handiwork. The clear sky… the slightest hint of a breeze… It was perfect if she did say so herself. “Nice to see you, Miss Kettleburn.” SPOILER!!: Camilus! Quote:

Looking taken aback, but then regaining his compossure, he smiled with enthusiasm.
"This is awesome! Hi Professor Darlington, this is sweet," Camilus said, sure that he was going to have an even better time than the folks who had walked past him in the hallway.
This one was very enthusiastic. Maybe a little too much, but judging by his small stature he couldn’t be older than second year so she was willing to excuse him. “Welcome to class, Mr. Therblé.” SPOILER!!: Indigo! Quote:

As for where to stand, none of Indigo's friends were present yet so he stood by himself. “Good morning, Mr. Rousseau.” The Ravenclaw boy didn’t seem quite as enthusiastic as some of the other students but no matter. The fourth year had read and reread the classroom rules and made sure that she was following them perfectly.
On time? CHECK!
Uniform just as it should be? CHECK!
Torii wasn't the least bit surprised to see a charmed classroom upon walking in. Most of the lessons did end up that way, so what was traditional anymore anyway? "Hello, Professor Darlington," she said, spotting the lady. Not wanting to stick around and wait necessarily for a response to that, Torii moved to the side and found a nice spot to stand to wait for things to get started. It appeared that Miss Stark had taken extra effort to ensure her uniform was on point and Joyce watched the girl and sent an approving nod her way. “Good morning.” SPOILER!!: Kaira! Quote:

She checked her timetable to see if she was in the wrong place. This was nice - the classroom was beautifully charmed to look like outdoors. She wondered why.
She walked in and greeted the professor. 'Good morning Professor,' she said and found a nice spot to stand. She smiled at everyone around. “Don’t worry Miss Parker, you’re in the right place if you’re wanting to practice some Transfiguration today.” She watched as the small Ravenclaw found herself a spot. SPOILER!!: Daisy! Quote:

Next to come in (or out?) was the Hufflepuff Prefect and Joyce caught her eye in greeting. “Nice to see you, Miss Swan.” SPOILER!!: Septimus! Quote:

The transfigured room showed an outside far more welcoming than its natural counterpart on the other side of the castle walls.
Now this he could enjoy…even if he had to also pay attention and learn.
The fourth year stepped further into the classro---clearing, making his way closer to the blackboard and the woman standing nearby. “Good morning Professor,” he greeted her politely as he took a spot to await the start of the class. Joyce turned her attention back to the door just in time to see another student come in and choose a spot to wait. “Good morning to you too, Mr. Hadley-Nairne.” What a polite young man. SPOILER!!: Stasya! Quote:

She had a much better grasp on the subject after the previous couple of terms and Team Animagus, although she was fairly certain not many people outside of the little Gryffindor “study group” knew the results. It wasn’t any higher on her list of favorite subjects than it had been before, but she respected it. She respected the professor, too.
Walking into the classroom, uniform nearly as pristine as it had needed to be to survive the previous term, she barely reacted to the sudden sunlight and magically-created clearing. Aside from a completely silent thought that it would have been nice to just stretch out on her back in the grass to watch clouds pass by, and the now-usual disappointment she couldn’t have let her familiars experience it. She knew she’d never overtly break the rules that barred Dobby from coming inside the castle, considering she visited the barns every chance she got anyhow. But the disappointment was still there.
She’d still given the professor a smile as she’d greeted her. “Good morning Professor Darlington.” Now there was just the matter of deciding exactly where to stand, and she found a good spot after a moment. And the next student was another Prefect. A Gryffindor this time she noted. “Good morning, Miss Dalgaard-Volkova.” SPOILER!!: Rylee! Quote:

Transfiguration was a lesson she wouldn't be late to and always got her full attention. Having been doing some advanced reading in the subject since last term she was ready for whatever they would be taught today.
Entering the classroom to be greeted with lovely large clearing and a clear blue sky simply made her wonderful mood soar even higher! "Good morning, Professor Darlington," she greeted the women with the warmest of smiles. Fixing the strap of her bag over her shoulder she walked towards the center of the clearing, closer to the blackboard and professor to wait for the start of lesson, bouncing lightly on the balls of her feet. “And to you too, Miss Prichard. Good morning. Glad to see you’re in high spirits today.” This Gryffindor looked particularly happy. It was always nice to see students happy and eager to learn. SPOILER!!: Hanna! Quote:

"Hello Professor," Hanna said as she entered, a smile spreading across her face as she took in the scenery. Owing to the no chairs around, she decoded to stand. Plus, it was almost a hesitation at this point, even though they were a month in. Old habits. “Hello, Miss Newton.” She offered the Ravenclaw an almost-smile. “That’s it, find yourself a spot to stand and we’ll be starting very shortly.” SPOILER!!: Farah! Quote:

Farah headed for the Trasnfiguration classroom. She stepped inside but her feet hit grass. For a split second she thought she took a wrong turn and had somehow made it to the grounds but upon lifting her head, she realized that nope. This was the right classroom.
It didnt surprise her however. How many times had she stepped into a classroom and had been transported to a whole different world? It was one of the charms of Hogwarts. Looking around, she saw many of her friends but one of her best friends was already here. Juni aka Jun-bug. Farah made her way over to her, pulling the hood from her cloak from her head. She nudged her friend with a smile before adjusting her bag. "Hey."
Then she looked at the professor and the portable blackboard. With all the magic, you think they would upgrade to something other than blackboards. Oh well. Let's get this class started. "'Morning Professor." Joyce watched as this one took a spot beside one of her friends. That was all very well, as long as there wasn’t too much chatter or giggling. She’d keep a close eye on them. “Good morning, Miss Dubey.” SPOILER!!: Maxton! Quote:

Was that too much to ask???
With a small huff of irritation, the Slytherin adjusted his rucksack and slouched on over to where everyone else seemed to be gathering and gave the Professor his usual greeting. A nod.
At least it wasn't dark and muddy like that one Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson had been.
She would also be keeping a close eye on this one. Joyce’s eyes followed the path of the Slytherin prefect who apparently wasn’t going to offer a greeting like the rest of his classmates had. He got a nod back. So be it. SPOILER!!: Jackson! Quote:

But strip it of its walls and making it into an outside? Well… At least it was a nice outside and not some kind of blizzard. “Good morning Professor Darlington,” he greeted as he walked in. He was glad to see he was not the only one a bit shocked by the uh… feng shui here. “Welcome to class, Mr Thomas.” Joyce replied, turning from one prefect to another. This one the Ravenclaw prefect. She knew she wasn’t supposed to show bias, and outwardly she would never, but she was glad to see that so far the students from her former house were proving to have impeccable manners. SPOILER!!: Madison! Quote:

Which meant another pair she was going to keep a closer eye on. SPOILER!!: Zoryn! Quote:

Might as well actually have a class on the grounds, right? Why bother with all the spell work? Geez. Think smarter, not harder, people!!
Walking inside, she gave her Professor a nod before going to stand next to Juni. "Seventh year-itus is kickin in real bad." And speaking of keeping a closer eye....
Joyce’s eyes narrowed as she watched this particular Gryffindor enter the (not)room. This one had earned herself quite the reputation. “There better not be any funny business in my lesson today, Miss Spinnet.” Just a word of warning. SPOILER!!: Chloe! Quote:

Walking into the classroom her green eyes looked around and an ooooh escaped her lips. "It's so nice in here. It makes me want to grab my broom and enjoy the nice day." Knowing it really wasn't that nice outside she was going to enjoy whatever nice weather, real or fake, that she could get. "Hello Professor, I hope you are doing well."
Looking around Chloe smiled at a few people, especially her house people before finding a place to stand with the rest of the group that had started to form in the fake outside. Her expression relaxed somewhat as the next student came in. Another one who seemed to appreciate the environment she had charmed for today’s lesson. “I’m very well thank you, Miss McCarthy. I’m afraid there won’t be the opportunity for flying today but I trust you’ll enjoy the lesson all the same.” SPOILER!!: Aaron! Quote:

He was confused at first, stepping into sunshine, when he'd just made a break for it across a frigid courtyard. Going from cold to hot was disorienting, but he wasn't mad at it. It was a nice break from the norm of Scottish weather. "Hello, party people! Professor Darlington!... You gotta teach me this." If he sounded in awe, that was probably accurate.
…….. party people?
Joyce blinked at the Hufflepuff boy, a little astounded at the outburst. “Thank you for showing your appreciation, Mr Botros, but please remember this is a class not a….” What had he said? “.... party.” SPOILER!!: Caolan! Quote:
Originally Posted by Lottiepot Why was it that every time Caolan walked into a lesson the classroom was never an ordinary classroom? No desks meant that a big proportion of the lesson would be practical and Caolan was all about that. He had never been big on the lessons where the teachers talked and the students just listened, he way preferred active learning and Hogwarts seemed to be all about that.
He should’ve been used to it by now but he was still a little surprised as he headed in to the classroom to end up out in the open. He felt the sun beam down on his face and despite it being October it didn’t feel that cold anymore. “Morning professor” he greeted the lady as he walked over to join the crowd that had already gathered.
Transfiguration wasn’t his best subject but it was something he considered useful so he had decided that morning that he was going to make an effort today. Party people.
Still shaking her head, Joyce turned her attention to the next boy. Thankfully, no outbursts from this one. “Good morning, Mr Wilson.” SPOILER!!: Tina! Quote:
Originally Posted by MadMadamMalfoy Tina was in a pretty good mood so far today, in spite of the dreary weather. She made her way down the hall to the transfiguration classroom with an uncharacteristic spring in her step, pausing for a moment to make sure her tie was straight. She didn't want to get on Professor Darlington's bad side, especially not before the lesson even started!
A small smile spread across her face as she walked into the classroom-turned-outdoors. She liked transfiguration well enough - one of the least chaotic classes at Hogwarts - but this looked like her kind of lesson! "Good morning, Professor Darlington," Tina greeted politely, giving the professor a nod of acknowledgement as she passed. She stood near the rest of the group, her dark eyes dsrting around the area. She didn't know what impressed her more - the scenery itself or the spellwork that must've been used to create it! Another polite Ravenclaw! “Good morning, Miss Dantes.” Joyce greeted, giving the girl a quick once over. Polite AND a spotless uniform she was happy to note. She expected good things from this one. When it seemed the last of the students had arrived, Joyce finally uncrossed her arms and had a quick peek at the delicate watch on her wrist. It was time to get this show on the road. With a subtle flick of her wand and a non-verbal spell, the classroom door snapped shut. Hopefully, there wouldn’t be any late stragglers today. If there were, she’d deal with them.
“Right then class,” she started, turning to face the group. “As I’m sure you’ve all noticed, this isn’t the usual classroom setting today. If you hadn’t noticed, I think a trip to the Healer to have your eyes tested is in order.” She paused, narrowing her own green eyes at the group for a moment before continuing. “Now! To start things off, I want you all to take a moment to take in and study your surroundings,” she gestured at the… well, the nothingness around them. “Study your surroundings and based on your findings tell me, what do you suppose it is we’ll be learning today?” She hadn’t really given them much to work with as there was nothing to be seen besides the very plain grass patch where they all stood and the clear sky. But this was the perfect way to get their brains kick started. OOC: Thanks everyone! Class has begun so unless you want your character to face the IC consequences, just go ahead and jump on in like you’ve been here all along. To start things off, Joyce wants you to have a guess at what you think the class is about. Remember, no answer is a wrong answer so let’s see what you’ve got! We’ll be moving on in another 24 hours.
