The lake had been the place to find the rock, and the pathways, with all the trees, was sure to be the place with all the sticks. This part was probably going to be easier, as there was bound to be less confusion as to what would count as a good ingredient for the sundial. A fairly long stick, Kennedy had said. Well... how long was long? Arm's length? Leg's length? As long as Abra was tall?
... Probably arm's length was a safe bet. Abra was only guessing here, but as they were studying sundials, he could pretty much guess that the stick was going to be casting a shadow, so it only really needed to be long enough to do that. Arm's length should suffice.
Now, Abra didn't want to go too far into the pathways; he had always been a bit jumpy about going around the school and grounds on his own since first year, and then the pathways was the scene of the incident he'd been involved in with the Inferi a couple of terms back so he was especially 'nope' about going back there alone. But it was alright, because in the end he didn't even have to go looking too far. As suspected, there were plenty of sticks on the ground to choose from on the way in, all of decent length.
Abra supposed he could have taken his time to really pick the perfect one, but that would involve hanging around here, and he wasn't exactly fond of the idea. So, in the end, he just picked up the first stick he clapped eyes on, turned tail, and speedwalked awaaaaay from the pathways, right on back to the lesson area by the lake.
