Max ignored the girl and her offer of water. Not that water wouldn’t be nice right about now, because it would… but right now, he was too busy ogling the Max sitting beside him who apparently had something to say.

He was about to ask himself why they weren’t doing something COOLER. Well, not himself…. But deskbuddy Max. Which was himself. Argh! Anyways, he was still half-convinced that this wasn’t even real life and he was in the midst of a dream. And if this WAS a dream, there was a ton of other stuff he’d rather be doing than sitting in Charms learning about whatever it was they were learning. He didn't even know anymore.

………… turns out, it wasn’t a dream. More like a nightmare. A real life nightmare.

Because next thing he knew, he was forced to his feet in front of the entire class and THAT ALONE was a million times worse than having a hundred thousand clones.

It was hard hearing anything over the sound of his own nervous pulse thumping in his eardrums but…. he heard enough from Trent to put the pieces together.

POLYJUICE!?!!??

THIS Max stared at each of the imposters in turn, wide-eyed and positively mortified as he considered the grander scheme of things and the implications. He wasn’t even mad. Just……… embarrassed. Embarrassed and incredibly self-conscious.

He flopped back into his chair and tugged clumsily at his collar some more. The warming charms may have been removed, but boy, did he feel warm.

Maybe he would take that water after all.

He downed the contents of the little cup on the desk and....
