Partly the thought of this whole polyjuice situation and partly because right now he actually MISSED those heinous black journals from last term. He could just pull it out right now, write about this, and then wait for the headmaster to see it. But no, instead he had to compromise his education a little - and it would be a LOT of compromising if he stayed - to leave his things behind and leave the classroom for a bit.
Hopefully...the woman wouldn't even notice.
"I'd actually like that, professor," he nodded. In response to the advanced lessons. He could use them, honestly, and despite circumstances it WAS kind of her to offer.
As to her question, well, his one upon arrival summed it all up well. Thing he wished he could fix with a simple charm? People transforming into others without their consent. Solution? Revelio. But Derf, shaky as he was, was not upset enough to start blasting spells at his classmates. He also didn't trust his aim when he was trying to fight some spiraling going on inside his head.
So, setting his things down by the desk he fully intended on sitting in once this was all dealt with, Derf quickly and quietly slipped out of the classroom and whispered to the nearest student that he just needed a bit of air, room felt stuffy. You know, in case Professor Dopple noticed and asked.
Or something.
Daisy was trying hard not to laugh at the abundance of Maxton's that were currently in the room. Then she noticed how peaky Derf looked. When he whispered to her that he needed fresh air, Daisy nodded and watched anxiously as he departed.
Daisy thought about Professor Dopple's question and soon raised her hand.
"I tend to misplace items at times so using the Summoning Charm is handy so I don't have to waste time and effort looking for the lost items."
