Damien hadn't been back to the Alley in sometime but the promise of carnival food and Maxie's big cruppy eyes were enough to lure the young man from his homestead in the states and into the streets his heart knew so very well. It was not much different aside from the carnival goings on, and with each remembered sound and sight his heart throbbed bittersweetly. O, misspent youth. o, long gone days. In his old age of 27 he regretted none of it.. Save perhaps for one.. itty bitty.. tiny little... thing.

But he hadn't brought his little brother to Diagon Alley to waste their precious time on regret, no, he'd brought Maxie here for turkey legs, corn dogs, cheeseburgers, mac and cheese (in a cheese waffle cone!?!), spicy nachos, spicy funnel cake, chocolate dipped cheesecake and an unholy amount of butterbeer and by the Gods he would have it all.

Maxie, for his part, did not take his big brother's hand for Damien's odd sighs and wistful eyes were making the young boy uneasy. He had been feeling excited all morning, the prospect of food and the petting zoo being just enough to squash his feelings of AnXiETy surrounding the alley and all that long stretch of street represented and.. now? Well now it was only guilt rolling around in his small and empty belly. Damien hadn't been back in England properly since the marriage announcement of his friend Zander and that woman looked more pixie than witch, and maybe, well, maybe he hated England now. Maybe Damien hated the alley and Maxie had been mean and stupid to ask along his big brother and maybe he should just grab Damien's sleeve and ask to go home rather than stay another minute. But Damien, taking Maxie's refusal of his hand for a desire to be seen as independent had strolled on ahead with a sneaking smile and a jangling pocket, unaware of Maxie's turmoil.

And turmoil it was. The very tall, angular looking boy seemed to flail on the spot without actually moving at all. His large water-colored eyes moving sheepishly from the tall, seemingly confident form of his elder brother to the line the young man had joined and then back again. The window had closed.

"Hey sport, why don't you run and grab us a couple of drinks while I grab the food." Damien called out, flicking his thumb and sending a galleon the littler Anderson-Belfort's way. Maxie jumped, his long fingers wiggling, nearly tripping over the laces of his yeezy 700's as he tried to catch the flying galleon, unaware of the simple charm Damien had placed on the singular gold piece - a terribly handy little homing spell - which sent it gently into the boy's outstretched palm. Maxie breathed out in relief, and triumphantly he raised his eyes to catch Damien's, a brilliant, but unsure smile dashing across his face.

"A-Alright." Maxie called back, stuffing the coin into his jean pocket and rushing off for the butterbeer stand. His worries were not wholly forgotten, but for the moment abated and that was all Damien could hope for.
