She was a little surprised, if she was honest, that it was apparently such a big deal to have water on his shoes. Every single pair of hers had been thoroughly imperviused by her mother, so it wasn't a problem that she ever ran into herself. And.... they looked dry now? Obviously Professor Ainsworth was good enough with his wand, even if he was just a Muggle Studies Professor. Muggle Studies, a subject she herself was mostly pretty pro at, but spells like that one? Not a chance. She was pretty sure too that she'd never be able to manage a non-verbal, so it was always pretty impressive to see one, even if there was a scowl accompanying it. "I think it was an accident, professor, it had to be. Plus its only water, right? Your shoes look fine. My mum imperviused all my shoes, so water never bothers me, I bet you could do that too, impervius them, that would keep them nice, wouldn't it, sir?"
Hopefully Algamus would vanish the water puddle instead of chastising poor Nimma any more. Quote:

And THEN, Algamus came in too and Nimma started crying all over again. Algamus would see what a bad house elf Nimma was being! And the studentsie was trying to help, and Nimma was so grateful but she felt terrible. Even though the damage was now done and Master Ainsworth was dried off, Nimma was absolutely miserable. Never, in all of her years here, had she spilled on a master of Hogwarts! What would Headmaster Scrimgeour say to her now?? Lip trembling, Nimma started to back up and with a *POP!* she disappeared. Did Rafferty's shoes look fine? Of course they did. His spell had seen to that. “It might have slipped your attention, Macindoe but we are completely and thankfully two different people. Water does bother me if it gets on my belongings. It is not ‘only water’.'' Rafferty conveniently ignored the part about water proofing the shoes. It hadn’t been thought of and there was no need to tell Macindoe that. With the elf still sobbing and hiccupping Rafferty holstered his wand. The pop told him the culprit elf was on her way just as he was without a further word. It was back to his office that he went.
