His eyes were tremendously close to rolling but he caught them at the last minute, managing a somewhat neutral expression. Honestly, she'd been going fine until the end. Shame.
"I didn't give you detention for participating in my class, Ms. McKinley." Honestly, teenagers.
"But you were otherwise correct. Do you think it appropriate for a student to decide when they want to leave a lesson?" He'd seen it happen once or twice, heard about it more often but could never fathom why even if they wanted to leave, they thought he would actually let them. Regardless of whatever they were feeling, it was mindblowing to think they just assumed things would work their way.
"And while we're at it, how necessary was it for you to back talk? What did you gain? What is your prize? You're a Slytherin, that lot's good for ambition and self preservation. Do you honestly think anything you did, fell in line with that?"
He expected it from Gryffindors.
