"Wow...she's a beauty," he cooed almost affectionately. "She's...a ball python...right? Axanthic ball python?" Derf was not too familiar with this species save for the few occasions he had been dragged to the zoo - places he loathed.

Oh. The man was asking him something...so he ought to look at the man and not his familiar. But it was HARD because she was so stunning, you know?

"I...um...maybe?" He actually wasn't sure and couldn't really speak for everyone else in the entire school. "I am the only one at this time at least." There was another small look of relief when he was not denied this opportunity - and yes, he was naive enough to miss any undertones to the private conversation going on between the man and his python. "Really?! Thanks!" he chirped, excitement clear in his bright blue eyes. "Can we start now? Or...um...should I come back when you've had more time to prepare? Reschedule...and stuff?"
Alek, surprised at the young man's knowledge about snakes, gave a little smirk. "That she is. Seems as if good old Wayland has taught you something after all." The way he said the name of the former Professor was full of malice and contempt. He was far from happy being in this blasted tent, but he would deal with it. For now...

Oh, Grindelwald's left shoe, was he going to have to tutor other students outside of class time as well? These Hogwarts children must be idiots. Though this one didn't seem to be. "Well, let's hope you are the only one." He said with a slight sneer.

Giving the young man a smirk, he bowed his head slightly, "Of course. I wouldn't want to deny an aspiring Magizoologist a proper education." He said with the same tone in which he spoke Tristan's name. In all honesty, he didn't have the time at the moment. Taking over a position in the middle of a term was a lot of work, and he needed to figure out some lesson plans that weren't total garbage like the lessons Wayland had left. "Come back tomorrow. Same time." He said with a nod and a knowing grin, that he was sure would be misinterpreted for happiness.
